Do your research on them - deep research. If they're that successful to be labeled a "guru", they should have their name attached to some form of success. From there you should be able to tell if they're full of shit or not. You have some gurus who only are good a promoting themselves and their courses (and nothing else), some who run successful businesses and take on the guru label on the side for extra revenue, and some who were successful in the past but push crappy outdated content.
I'd stay away from mainstream gurus in general, their content is usually watered down. You can always find great and successful marketers who put out some good content on this forum, Youtube, Facebook groups, Reddit, etc. When I first got interested in IM, I actually found one guy on Youtube (no ebook, courses, consulting, ads, etc.) who actually took the time to help me setup my first website and push me in the right direction and never asked for a cent. People like that are most likely going to benefit you the most, more than any $997 online mastermind course.
