How to recognize true gurus ?

Do your research on them - deep research. If they're that successful to be labeled a "guru", they should have their name attached to some form of success. From there you should be able to tell if they're full of shit or not. You have some gurus who only are good a promoting themselves and their courses (and nothing else), some who run successful businesses and take on the guru label on the side for extra revenue, and some who were successful in the past but push crappy outdated content.

I'd stay away from mainstream gurus in general, their content is usually watered down. You can always find great and successful marketers who put out some good content on this forum, Youtube, Facebook groups, Reddit, etc. When I first got interested in IM, I actually found one guy on Youtube (no ebook, courses, consulting, ads, etc.) who actually took the time to help me setup my first website and push me in the right direction and never asked for a cent. People like that are most likely going to benefit you the most, more than any $997 online mastermind course.

I agree, I started in IM because of a guy on youtube was explaining Etsy, for the sake of people, no courses no books nothing. people like these exist but they're rare.

but i think it's hard to tell if they're faking it or not as most of them are good at it, and i feel bad for people who spend thousands on their stuff.

The other question also arises as to who needs the gurus when we can get their courses for free on BHW haha

Because they think that when they spend money they'll commit to the shit, as if money is the only thing to motivate you to learn something and to improve yourself. usually i check the author's stuff for free and if he's too good i try to purchase his stuff ( to help him produce more content ) but I think starting from now I'll try his methods first and if they work then I'll help.

The marketplace for example is full of guides and books that their owners claim making 6 figures and still want you to buy his guide for 30 bucks, what do you think about this ?

I can't speak for the marketplace, but some of these gurus use cheap ebooks/courses as lead sources, not their main source of revenue. The good ones at least. If you're willing/gullible to spend $29 on an ebook, you'll probably be interested in a $249 ebook/course. If you're that dumb, then you'll probably spend $2k on an in-person seminar. And the cycle keeps going.

I remember this guru (I believe Anthony Morrison) had a funnel like this and was making a killing on his offer. Although you'll probably learn nothing from those types of gurus, you'll learn a whole lot studying their funnel. Lately I've seen a few gurus adopt the dropshipping angle and the new trend is to offer a free physical book, and have customers (leads) pay $9.95 shipping. Or offer a free ebook and an upsell for the audio version. Once they're in, I'm sure they squeeze every penny out of them. Pretty creative stuff.

This is gold. thanks for explaining

You should check their avatar first, mine looks completely guru master. There you go.

If they make money doing what they love, they dont need to teach things to noobs. Their time is most valuable, I think

Read a lot of threads on BHW, collect ideas, connect the dots.. and you will have same knowledge as 99% of IM Gurus.

I will show you how I recognize the fake ones It's easy!

For example on YouTube, if the video starts with an intro where he shows you that he's actually rich, shows what he has (e.g houses, cars...) or some pics with his girlfriend at beach, hotels..... His earnings snapshot........

SO SKIP and CLOSE the video IMMEDIATELY

I hope you understand ;)

A true Guru is the one who read 1 2 3 4 5 6 books brrrrrrrrrrrrrr

There are no true Gurus. They all try to take your money...
Your best guru is BHW and Google.

Very true, we don't need a guru when we have BHW as a true guru for us. I totally agree with you. We have learned a lot from BHW rather than any other book or courses out there.

By not seeing them as a “guru” of something. You don’t need to ignore them but neither listen and believe to everything they say.

You can listen to someone giving advice or strategy, take notes, research, add/correct, implement and test test test.

If iam making good money i will no t have time to sit and teach someone ,iam selfish like everyone else i will keep making money ,why would i waste time on some unknown stranger on the internet for some little money. Most of gurus sell thier product and methods you can see lots of methods also they will post and in the end of the post they have banners etc.
Dont trust anyone none wants to help you,its like a jungle survival of fittest,Gurus are BS.

In my opinion: Someone who actually make bank with IM won't play the guru game (i.e sell courses because they can't make it in IM), so.. none.

Fully agree with this. You're not going to find a mentor or a guru that will lead you to the light.
