How to rank new websites?

Yep. When your rank is slowly increasing BEFORE you build links, you know you'll bank hard when you add them. This is what we call a goldmine. If you purely rely on backlinks, a future competitor will destroy you.

39 answers and only about 4 of them actually provide a decent answer... Seems like everyone with a post count of 10 is an expert at SEO. (i'm not claiming I am)

Anyway, if you truly have lots unique, engaging and properly optimized content (if not read the BTB tread posted earlier, matter of fact you should read it anyway if you haven't already) and your site is already a couple of months old, it might be a good idea to start at the beginning.

Did you do proper keyword research and did you manually check your competition to make sure this was a keyword you'd be able to rank? Did you achieve organic rankings without any backlinks being built? If your answer to both of these questions is no then it might be a good idea to re-analyse the keywords you're going for before you continue spending money on trying to rank them.

I am also facing this problem and, faing in 3 websites having low competition and i saw many other people ranking on first page with the same type of content and link distribution.

I make unique articles, proper on page SEO, some good links, sidewide links, web 2.0, profile, forums, article ditrectory, press release and blog comments.

But not even 1 keyword was ranking on top 3 Google pages.

but i was ranking for some random keyword, i never tried to rank for those.
Let me tell u, i am talking about niche website and want its only for 3 months. Waiting for reasons ?

The answers... wow, so bhw really became like a warrior forum...

your keyword selection was totally wrong. First choose keyword which is niche with you and if your site is newbie you better choose low competition keyword for getting search engine visibility.

Google update is the only way to rank your sites, but it's gone for last 5 months.
don't think like hardwork and service is waste.
it's really improve the reputation of your blog.
Be cool, suppose the google goes to start the update, definitely your blog will be ranked.

follow these steps i think u can get rank
1.on page optimization
2.directory submission
3. web 2.0
4.social bookmarking and then blog commenting and forum posting
5.try to index all back links which you create

Pay special attention to an onsite optimization.
First of all, select the keywords that best fit your site. You can use the Google Planner or other tool.
Optimize your pages for the selected keywords.
Write unique meta tags for each page. Pay special attention to the tag title - this is the most important tag for search engines.
Use internal linking to provide the additional links to a similar information.
Use Google Page Speed to optimize your website

Maybe you have to work more on page optimization?

It really depends upon your keywords and niche. Some niches are quite tough so analyze your keywords first.

Just remember it will not happen overnight. Try adding signature links to forums, do guest posting, perhaps have something on social media. Talk up the site and you will get there.

i suggest to dont build links with your main keyword for new sites, according to my expierience, it always put your website to nowhere

No Problem if your link is High Quality

It would be helpful to actually see those three sites. A lot of assumptions are being made here about content and other on page content. Seeing the site would help us know for sure what you've done so far and what remains to be done.

If he posts his site on here then he can forget trying to rank it completely!

Dear,
I would suggest you to perform On-Page SEO and do website improvements. After improving your Website, perform Off-Page SEO. For Off-page SEO, use Web 2.0, Article Submission, Directory Submission, High PR Blog comments and Social Media Campaigns to boost your site ranking.
