I am building a new site it is somewhat an emd like mysite.co.uk or sitereview.co.uk, so I wanted to ask u is it imp to host this in Uk or can I host it in us? I read that if it is co.uk it is not as imp if it should be hosted in uk. I already have some sites in us .com,etc. and I was thinking of getting a seperate acc on my same hosting provider thus not connecting this site with the others, is it true that google bans all the site if it goes after one of yours or is it only for autoblogs?
I would love to get some tips from u guys on ranking it in google uk, Should I go by with the normal backlinking or try to find more co.uk backlinks?
Thanks guys.

UK host is not as important as having a fast and reliable host provider. So look for the best host service and not just a UK host service.

I think it doesnt matter if you choose .co.uk or .com but i would say go with the .com and then in Google Webmaster you can set the domain to target a specific country (UK in this case) and then just buid backlinks normally.

The rest i didnt understand.

Yep,just set UK in Webmaster Tools, that's the most important thing. I ranked a .net, hosted in the US (shared with my many other sites, mostly US), ranked no. 1 in the Uk that way.

From my experience ranking 1st page for a 30000 exact search a .co.uk will rank better for uk. As will uk hosting. Uk backlinks will also carry a lot of weight.

So I can host it in US? The comp is very tough as well. I was thinking for going with hostgator usa ip.
My other q was Does google ban all ur sites if it is on the same server/ip even if they are not autoblogs?
Should I use analytics, webmaster on this domain as I am using them for other sites as well.

good advice :) yea just get a good host and set it up with uk webmaster tools and upload ur sitemap etc., maybe submit your site to bing thru a UK IP? dunno but seems like that might help. Honestly dont know

Anyone else has any opinion on this?

If it's tough competition then you MIGHT consider UK hosting, noone really knows, but it could give you an extra edge. Oh yeah, and make sure the meta language tag says "en-GB" too, can't do any harm!
The banning thing - I don't follow, why would Google ban you? Sounds like you're expecting it :D

Host it anywhere as long as you set it to United Kingdom in webmaster tools. UK hosting won't really help as some people claim. I have many sites top of page 1 with US hosting but a .uk domain.

Try and get some backlinks from .uk site too.

All things remaining equal, in seo terms, if two websites are very evenly matched, then a .co.uk website with reliable, fast uk hosting will rank above websites with other domain extensions and non-uk hosting for G**gle.co.uk

If your target audience is based in the UK, then you should use UK/EU hosting so that it is as fast as possible.

Find a good hosting, UK or not it doesn't really matter. If you can go with Uk, it's great but it's not a must have.

I moved a .co.uk to a .com and from a UK host to a USA host for a site.

It's now number one and hadn't been before. So it can't be that big of a deal.

.uk domain?

I agree that the .co.uk domain is more important than where it is hosted; but even if it helps a bit, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, use a UK hosting company too - it certainly won't hurt!

Targeting UK in Webmaster tools is VERY important. Plenty of UK backlinks if possible and, if you have a few bucks or a voucher, run a short campaign on Adwords target UK too - this alerts Google to your presence and I don't know if they are actually kinder to advertisers but sometimes it feels like that.

And one that a lot of people forget (me included!)

make sure the meta language tag says "en-GB" too
mentioned above!

So i should not go fot hostgator rather search for a uk hosting?
Does anyone know a good uk provider.

I don't think I can geo target .co.uk domain? Isn't it already for uk?
Guys then should I go fot hostgator or search for a uk hosting? and does anyone know a good uk provider.

build some good backlins from UK hosted websites ,change the targeting country to UK in webmaster tools

I don't know any "good" ones for black hat ops. If you are strictly White Hat, I know several eg 123-reg and terranetworks.net but I don't think UK hosting is critical. It's the other details you need to concentrate on.

Thanks a lot guys for sharing your views. This is exaclty what I was looking for...
