Hello,
How can you rank for how search volume, tough keywords? I need help ranking (top three only) a very tough keyword.. I have already got a list of long-tail keywords, which I am hoping I can rank.

Which SEO courses do you recommend studying?
Which SEO blogs/threads do you recommend learning from?
What techniques do you recommend?

From my side, so far I know you can rank keywords with low competition using web 2.0s. Have had tough time ranking tougher keywords.. i mean it doesn't even move.. Clearly, I am lacking some understanding. any help would be appreciated..

Thanks,

A strong PBN or set of natural blog posts with high PA, TF and UR may help.

Check this article i find it to be really helpful. And for other linkbuilding strategies i would just browse the Marketplace > SEO Subforums and get one of the packages there. I have never get one myself but you can check the feedback, number of replies and thumbup the thread as an an indicator.
If you insist on doing the work by yourself then i would recommend...

* Guest posting on niche related blog
* Forum and Blog posting comments on niche related sites
* Social media marketing
* Leverage broken links and redirect them to yours.
* Check competitors backlinks and see how are they ranking for similar keywords and try to replicate them and make better content than theirs.
* PBNs

Do a bit of keyword research to find out related topics and keywords. See if something similar maybe with a low search volume exists that is not so competitive. Focus on that topic and draft your content for both keywords. Internal linking of posts, or highlighting the competitive content in you less competitive post. You can always use creative skills, images etc... To highlight this.

Now ranking for the less competitive page won't be that difficult. You may find this working when people also read your linked post.

This may or may not work all depends on the research and grouping of keywords keeping topic relevancy in mind.

This works for me on most ocassions. Only thing is a lot more work is needed for research and grouping of keywords. Also requires more content as you will have to write for a group of keywords.

Hope this helps you.

No courses needed dude, everybody knows there are 2 important thing in SEO: link building and content.

One can't go without the other. Period.

Now go build some links (or buy some links), write content and rank!

Thanks for the responses ..

My plan right now is

1) find and content up all related keywords, low competition, of course
  • I am using google planner and scrapper tool to find all related keywords and check competition.
  • I will write all the content
  • I plan to use google server to host
2) Link to main keyword, which has 1 million plus search volume..

I will post here from time to time to share what I am learning.

Tough keywords require strong backlinks that you usually only get buying them or building them through a good PBN. And maybe optimized content from a copywriter.

There are a few things that you can do in order to help rank your website high for tough keywords.

First, make sure that your website is properly optimized for those keywords. This means including them in your title tags, meta descriptions, and H1 tags.

Second, make sure that your website is regularly updated with fresh content. Google wants websites that are constantly updated, due to the fact that they know these pages will keep users coming back.

It is also important to make sure you have links pointing back to your website from other quality sites. This helps your site gain popularity and this will also help it rank high for those tough keywords that you are targeting. Links from high quality websites are seen as a sign of endorsement, and this is something that Google takes into consideration when ranking websites.

If you follow these tips, you will be able to rank your website high for tough keywords.

Not recommanded to rank on tough keywords without any prior knowledge. I tried but google will make you on the 7-8 page as it does to my keyword. using a keyword finding tool may help you but only advice is just if you trying to put your efforts make it in a right way. Google has a mea to rank valuable websites on valuable keywords.

This is the third time I've seen a 3 year old thread bumped. Might wanna stop doing that.

every post he made is a necro bump

What techniques do you recommend? Authority, make your site into a site worthy of being linked by to by everyone without you needing to create backlinks :)

High competition keyword has a lot of google properties and widget spam in serp results.
Ads, PPA, PASF, YT videos, Google Images, Related search and ALL that google spam in order to keep all traffic on their properties ($$$$).
So, before choose the strategy look at serp layout on mobule / desktop.
Even with strong links and all suggested strategies you rank in top 3 layout could be like this (competitive keyword):

1: AD
2: AD
3: AD
4: AD
5: FIRST ORGANIC RESULT
6: TOP STORIES: News about 'related keyword'
7: News about 'another related keyword'
8: Also in the news
9: People also ask

Make more unique contents, with right keyword density for your long tail keyword and start to link building with good metrics and no spam PBN links .

You could rank your site for all of those keywords, both shorter and long-tail ones, but you need to have strong links that come from reliable sources online, and to create some real quality and unique content. That is your ticket for ranking though keywords, it will allow you to reach higher positions.
