How to rank for low competition keywords

Hey there!

So, I've been reading through this thread http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...mazon-newbie-friendly-phase-5a-published.html and I really liked it as I can write honest reviews and build a community and what not.

Obviously I won't reveal my niche, but I'm not trying to rank for english keywords, I'm trying to rank keywords in my native language.

I have written a few reviews and few long articles, because I really like this niche and would like to grow my blog with white hat methods.
I am using Wordpress and Yoast SEO plugin .. all of my articles have almost-perfect SEO score (green), I have Google Search Console connected, Instagram profile with instagress, Facebook page set up, Twitter, using Google Rich Snippets (which are sadly not shown yet, anybody know why?) etc.

My domain is new, around 10 days now. Google is already indexing me, I am coming up on people's search results, but in positions around 20-50+.

My question - are there any good white hat methods with which I can help my keywords to rank better? Most of my keywords are low-comp, so it shouldn't be much of a problem.

PS: As stated in the thread above, I have placed my backlink in a non-spammy way on various forums, but most of them are nofollow so they bring just a little to no traffic.

You can build a diversified selection of normal links without hurting yourself. For added benefit seek out guest post opportunities on Google by searching for similar blogs. Write content for them and include a do-follow link.

My recommendation would be guest posts. Reach out to websites in your niche and see if they can publish a guest post on their website with unique content and a link back to your site. Secondly, you could also build some web 2.0 properties like blogger and wordpress blogs with unique content, linking back to your site. You could then push some links at these web 2.0's to get them indexed in search engines. I have done this before and it helped a lot.

I keep saying this, but for LOW COMP keywords the cheapest/easiest/quickest way to rank fast is with GREAT on-site optimization. Get optimized and then keep feeding in fresh content to the site. You get that part right and you will barely need any external SEO to start ranking.

For low comp I like to do a lot of branding to start. By that I mean start building pages for the website. Get a facebook, twitter, instagram, Tumblr ect... linking back to the main page. This doesn't need to be your typical web 2.0 style link building but actual branded pages for your site. Get a Youtube page and throw up some videos linking back to the site. Bookmark the site at stumbleupon, delicious ect.. Find some business/website launch directories. So in a nutshell just think of it like if you were starting a business what are some things you would do to brand your business. With low-comp this works surprisingly well since all you really need is Google to be aware of your site. I usually like to throw a press-release in there as well. Oh 1 last thing. Make sure you use good internal linking throughout your site that lets Google know what the pages are about (think wikipedia). After all that I am usually first page and then decide if I want to push harder.

To find related keywords, use the Related Keywords report. This will list phrases that are semantically related to a particular queried search term.

For low competition, I recommend to start with internal site structure by internally linking your posts together. A few social shares, some blog comments and maybe some forum profile links should help, also use niche article sites. If your site is based on a physical business I recommend citations as a way to boost trust for your site.
Strategies above and beyond that? Getting a wikipedia link, guest posting, making infographics, making youtube videos (still the best), submitting prezis and ppt's, creating sound files etc.

White hat methods are affective but generally slow..

10 days old and already on page 2-5? That's pretty good. Just keep doing what you're doing, and start slowly building quality relevant backlinks.

It's quite easy to rank for low-competition keywords using guest blog posts.

As long as you have the on page component of SEO down cold, you only need to find a middle-ranked blog in your niche to link back to you.

This can be very difficult if you are going to do it yourself because it can get really boring.

The best approach would be to spend the 20-30 bucks on a virtual assistant to do the legwork for you.

This person is going to do blog research, filter that blog based on domain and page authority as well as look for contact information.

Once you get this contact information, you should then engage these bloggers and create a relationship so they can figure out your level of expertise and credibility.

It helps if you have been published from somewhere else before.

If not, it would be nice if you could offer them a free sample of the kind of writing you are capable of.

If you're not much of a writer you can also outsource this.
