Hello guys, I'm new here. I want to know how one can use SEO techniques to rank an eCommerce website on the first page of Google. Do I have to pay for ads or there is another way? Please help.

Paying for ads doesn't "rank" your website on the first page, it places it there for a fee.

You need to perform keyword research first to find low-medium competition keywords to target. You then need to write/buy content targeting those keywords, post the article on your website and perform proper on-page SEO. Then, you can look into getting some backlinks. I would personally prefer to start with guest posts and then maybe look into PBN's somewhere down the line. If your budget is limited, you can find some blogs to comment on and drop a link in the comment or in your name. Also, you can create your own Web 2.0's too and build links to them.

Yoast published a book called yoast ecommerce SEO if i am right, download section shared it.

If you have a budget, try Adwords or Bing Ads as they can work quite well for an e-commerce site, assuming you have everything set up properly.

Do a bit of reading on PPC before wasting your money on useless clicks.

Thanks a lot guys. I guess I have a lot to learn especially about keyword research and on-page SEO. I find this forum quite resourceful.

Content and backlinks is the key.. If anyone of them do not come into effect, top serps cannot be achieved

OP for eCommerce you need to do SEO of your home page using "brand term" using anchor texts like your "domain.com" or "your website name" or "Your main keyword" then your category SEO for your "other keywords".

You can buy links from BHW marketplace or can do yourself.

I have been researching on keywords to help me start building content that's relevant to the business. I'm not sure about backlinks because I don't want to be flaged as a spammer on any forum. What are the other methods of backlinking?
