How to rank better than this site?

Small background: I worked 3 months with my team to create a huge new website which went live today and replaced my old site. I tried to optimize the pages on the site as best as possible for the keywords I want to rank (with many huge SEO articles, every keyword has an own landing page etc.)

Ok, so my biggest competitor in my niche has the following stats (pictures from Majestic trial):
Trust Flow 10
Citation Flow 22

And this is my site:
Trust Flow 12 (Checked it now, I think some days ago it was only 6...)

My competitor and I want to rank for the same keywords, what should I do to rank better than him?
Currently for all keywords my competitor is on page 1, I am somewhere between page 3-7 depending on the keyword. Hope some experts can tell me on what I should spend my SEO budget (let's say maximum 500-1k $) to be most effective.

PS: Both, my site and my competitor's site are multilingual, German and English

You are trying to surpass a more established site, and it takes time. The screen shot does not give exact referring domain number, does it? It seems he has over 100 and you have less than 100, and he has more than 10 times more links than you. In other words he has a lot of SEO power already.

$1k will probably not give you his spot, but you could reach page 1 with it. But it is hard to know without more details, such as how competitive the niche is and who are the other 9 sites on page 1.

Which details would you need? No, it doesn't give the exact referring domain number, but I will try to get that information. The screenshots were made using just a trial Majestic account. Currently the goal is to simply get on page 1 in Google (from page 3-6 as it is now depending on the keywords, I hope the new website will give it a boost). But the question is were to spend my budget. PBNs, guest posts, simple web 2.0s etc. Building links rather to the home page or to inner pages
(Yeah, I wouldn't call myself an SEO expert ;))

$1k you may reach page 1 but these days it takes time; you spend the budget by mixing your links, mostly high quality ones, and by being careful with your SEO campaign.

TF/CF only give part of the story and can get misleading, there are other metrics such as DA, RD and more which are more useful to see how strong his site is.

That’s the problem. You have to find someone who can be "trusted" and who doesn't sell overpriced trash links.
 
You've got a lot of work to do.

You're going to need to spend a lot of time on planning your link building campaign. In a safe manner.

You need to find out the links they have - the ones are actually indexed by google. Ahref and majestic stats are useless without knowing what's actually indexed, especially after fred/june

You're going to need to figure out which of those you can replicate.

What their overall anchor text ratio is, what their anchors are to the ranking pages, and how their links are spread throughout their site. And audit their content and interlinking structure.

You need to blend in as best as you can.

Get a free trial on ahrefs.

Export top 5 competitors links, all of them

Check which links are indexed, I use https://www.greenlanemarketing.com/tools/google-indexation-tester/, and then you can start figuring out what I mentioned above.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. But it will get you started

There are so many other things to consider, but this will give you a better idea on if it's feasible to rank in this niche

You can't your only way is to know SEO yourself before hiring someone, same for every qualified job

I know I have to learn it better, but reading every thread, every strategy takes a lot of time. You can't become an SEO expert in one day, so at the moment I'd rather trust someone else to create a SEO strategy for my site, because I know I won't make it perfect with my current knowledge.

Trust real agency in this case!

I don't want to offend anyone but when I see a seller with a selling thread designed from fiverr at $25 and a wufo form it doesn't look like the seller want to build trust and make business with long-term customers, it look like he don't wants invest in his own business and will probably sell quickly cheap stuff at gold price then rebrand another thread and start again every 6-12 month, at the same time maybe the seller will be totally legit and build awesome link but real agency can't close and reopen 3 months later so they will take care of you.

I assume you know some people/ agencies who are worth the price?
 
You'll need to check his backlinks and analyze.

Quality > Quantity. But generally you also need a god quantity as well. He's quite a head of you, lots of catching up to do - HQ PBNs & Guest posts generally help a ton but do make sure to diversify your backlinks & build a really solid SEO foundation.

There are other factors which you can check to see if you have an advantage such as whether he's directly targeting the same keyword as you, making it easier to outrank him.

That might be part of your problem... I'm not saying you SHOULD do adwords, but if Google doesn't like your site enough to approve it for Adwords it says you might have a site quality issue. Start there...
