No book will remove the addiction.. Your body actually produces nicotine which makes you crave it.

Find something else to keep you busy and the cold turkey approach should work for you. Once you stop it for two weeks you start forgetting about it.

This is what worked for me. I quit smoking 3 years ago by going cold turkey and doing exercise everytime I had a craving. I would go for a jog, do some situps, pushups, weights. By the time I had finished and was breathing real heavy, the craving had gone.

Alternatively, you could use my hoplink for an ebook. :d

i tried both nicorette and nicoderm and electronic shit virtually every standing shit for somkin' none worked

then i tried champix it's small pills. kinda expensive but they fuckin rock. they basically erase your memory / after 2 days you discover you haven't smoke in two days and you're doing quite well. if by all means you intentionally think about smoking and even if you light a cigarette it tastes differently and you see it's shittier...

i turned into a fat pig though

I do not stop smoking. I use to smoke to make me stay awake all night long.

Useful tips: Be friend with someone that hate cigarette nice smell. Then, always hang out with them. Indirectly you will avoid to smoke when they around you.

I used to LOVE smoking! YOu know how some people say they hate smoking and yet they still do? That wasn't me, I loved the suckers but I was sick of having to smoke outside and all of the other inconveniences. I quit by ceremoniously buying a new pack of smokes, lit one up, took a drag and through it and the pack out the car window. It was empowering! Haven't smoked another in 18 years.

You need to want to quit. Then it should be no problem.
Worked for me, i quit after 3 years, 10-15 cigarettes per day.
Forget all these patches, pills and stuff.

You just need to be strong.

But if that doesn't work for you, i guess you're gonna need them ;)

Make up your mind to quit, then do it. Simple as that. If you don't really want to quit, you won't quit smoking.

Totally agree, I think it is something that you just have t do rather than relying on nicotine supplements.

I quit around 3 weeks ago after smoking for a long time.

    It sucks at the moment!

I will admit I did break and have a couple when I went out for a drink after the first week but I made last weekend without having any at all even when I went out for a beer.

There are so many different times I crave for a cig like after excercise, after work, with a beer, even doing IM when I make a nice chunk of money or when I get a bit stressed they are all times when I want 1 the most.

I have quit so many times before I have become somewhat of a professional at it. The only problem I have is I am very good at starting again.

Hope I can do better this time.

You smoke 4 cigarettes a day and you say that you're addict?

Just stop buying cigarettes, that would be a step.

I switched from cigarettes to electronic cigarette and I'm very satisfied of it. Looks like a cigarette, feels like a cigarette, there is no ash, no fire and it's awesome. I purchased this one, take a look:

The reason is you can't because you want it, and maybe you don't even realize it.
Anyway, this is how i quit.
I get sick. Very strong cough and i don't know something just clicked in my mind and i decided to NEVER NEEEEEVEEEEER smoke any kind of this stuff. I've been smoke for 1 year like you, but i was 13(?) i guess, so now i'm 21 and don't smoke at all. i even despise people who smoke.
So good luck with this, hope you'll be achieved.

I quit cold turkey after a couple of years of smoking. I must say that I was into it more for the ancillary benefits of smoking, like being able to take a 15 minute break whenever I wanted and sit outside, and being able to smoke and talk to girls at the club. I did however at one point really enjoy handrolling and smoking them beyond all that.

At that point in my life, I decided to work out and to eat healthier and smoking was just antithetical to those goals. It didn't make sense to go for a run and to the gym and then later that night have a cigarette. It didn't make sense at all in my head and so my quitting had to do with trying to eliminate the cognitive dissonance I was experiencing .After I came to terms with that, I no longer wanted to smoke or had the desire to, and so I no longer do.

If it is the smoking part you like, ween off of it by switching to herb, e-cig, or hookah. Anything to separate the cig from you. Then I would ween off of those things eventually too.

The real key at the end of the day, is wanting to quit. If you do not really want to quit, deep down, then you never will.
