How to provide proof without it?

I am starting my SEO company but I don't do SEO. lol I am an outsourcing king whenever it comes to doing stuff. However I will be doing the website analysis with tools like Market Samurai and I plan to get IBP from the downloads section.

I'm not a noob to analysis and I know a fair bit about SEO but I have over 70 freelancers that have applied to my job with rates between $250 and $500 a month. I plan to charge 1k initially so I'm sure some businesses will ask for proof.

How do I provide proof of page/number 1 listings without having them? I could use the freelancers sites but they are from their clients and if my potential clients contact them and they say that they never heard of me....... u get the picture.

So how do I provide proof? Am I over thinking the process?

IMO you should learn SEO before starting a SEO company... Anyways, you could buy a few sites and rank them top 5 for various keywords eg. lawyerintexas(dot)com and rank it for a few keywords.

You can either ask ur freelancers for proof, this way u know that they actually know what they are doing cuz it seems like you are getting them those proposals from elance or the other ones like it OR you can make a website for your business, rank it and use it as proof OR tell your 1st few clients that they will pay u only when they see the results and u can use them as proof afterwords...

You cannot charge a flat fee for SEO, just so you know. It all depends on the market, new york plumber will be a lot harder, hence more expensive than some small city in AR plumber...so don't even think about charging the same fee...

A nickname or pseudonym for you or the business. Examples:

--Your Local City SEO Doctor

Great stuff guys. I appreciate the suggestions. As far as SEO, I have been reading on this board for a few year. I had another account and I lost the password and wasn't able to recover it, but I dont want to be doing the SEO at all. I would rather have a freelancer do it.

I have checked the applicants references and have found some that look solid. So I think I will the sites of the one that I choose. I will also look int doing some of the things suggested. I think I am gonna come off as the local guy that has been doing SEO and is willing to work with businesses before I do the company thing to get some start up funds.
