D) Ok, the best thing to protect against negative SEO attacks is to keep a sharp eye on your inbound links with a tool like Ahrefs, SemRush, or Majestic. Other than that know that Google is getting REALLY good at ignoring negative attacks, and if your site has authority it may already be partially or fully immune. The higher your authority, the less susceptible to attacks you are. If you ARE hit then you can always fall back on Google's tools to Disavow the links.
