How to promote a coupon site

Hey guys

I have created a coupon style site mainly using CJ for the deals just now until the site gets more traffic before I approach vendors.

Anyways, how should i go about generating traffic without spending too much money on adwords? I'm not very good with adwords, i always loose out when i have tried in the past

I have some ideas in my head like organic search engine traffic, so SEO tactics. I am going to do a lot of SEO and backlinks but this all takes time to start appearing high in the SERPS?! Also, maybe generating traffic via youtube somehow, gumtree and graigs list. Press releases to the areas i am targeting.

Anyone got some good ideas floating around to help?? White or black hat welcome

Make some videos about your site and how to use the coupon codes(or buy some videos on fiverr), watermark them whit your website url, upload to youtube and wait.
Also you can try Facebook advertising, instead of adwords, maybe more success.

Cheers mate! i like the facebook advertising idea! I was going to create facebook fan pages but never thought about the advertising part. I take it facebook are alot cheaper than google ads?

Also liek the youtube idea i have noticed on fiverr people had "we'll recomend your product" gigs.

"we'll recomend your product" gigs - hmm not bad, but i think a tutorial style video is better. also some kind of how to get xyz product for x dollars only style video is better.
Maybe facebook ads are cheaper, i dont really know, it depends on keyword and things like that. Write some interesting text in the ads, like "Wanna get the xyz product for only x dollars? Use our promotion code for free!"
Facebook fan page is another great idea. Maybe you can do that for the start, to make some code invisible for people who didn't like you fanpage. Some codes for 90% off or something like that. I hope it helps you, and sorry for my bad english.

I would go with facebook,i see 3(local) coupon sites ads on facebook every day each has 60-90k likes (i live in a country with only a few million citizens in it).You should be able to get in there in a few weeks just set up a good campaign.(you can do some spamming as well its free)Also do some utube vids,would try offline-newspaper ads aswell.

make a new FB account for the advertising, try to target your ads with people that try to save money, make your acct a girl maybe? Might pull a few more people and look more legit, when you got a high number of friends, make up the coupon FB page and blast it out to the friends,
