How to pick the right marketer

I have a fairly new insta page that has a small following and I currently have a marketer that I hired off upwork to grow it since i work 12hr shifts during the day and do not have the time/energy.

With that being said even though he seems to have a solid plan (at least in my uneducated opinion on this matter) I am not happy with his results so far and the growth is very very slow. but I hired him originally because his hourly rate was not cheap but reasonable.

Whats the cost associated with getting a good marketer and how would you go about picking the right one?

In the US, a good social media manager that works part time will be $1,500/month and higher.
Anyone charging less than that is a non-professional.
Full timers won’t touch an account for less than $5k per month working remotely off-site.
If you want on-site, $90k/year and higher.
I deal with brands, agencies and influencers. I know what I’m talking about.

thank you for your insight, im currently paying someone off upwork 12/hr to do it and honestly the page is seeing little to no growth

First off, how are their personal accounts? If not good, then what can you expect?
A teacher knows how to teach, you wouldn’t hire a gardener to tutor your kids.
Or go to a doctor that’s always sick, expecting them to treat you?
Same with social media.
Another way to look at it, would you do your work for less money? Probably not. So, a great deal in social media, may not be such a great deal.
