Hi folks,

Im starting a journey on writing about a specific topic (blogging) and once Im able to speak two languages I was thinking about writing articles in one language, translate them, proof read and publish in two different websites.

I want to monetize using adsense.

Doing this I would reach two times more users without much effort, however I dont know the best and more efficient way to do this (regarding seo best practices).

I plan to publish 5-8 articles a month.

What should I do?
Create two websites and publish the articles at the exact same time?

Any help is welcome :)

Why not create a single multilingual website?

Initially, you need to think about when it comes to translating your website is domain structure. Your existing domain will only act as the address for the English version of your site. Each version needs a unique domain of its own.

  • Country-specific domains: You register unique domains in each target market
  • Subdomains: You create subdomains with your existing domain
  • Subdirectories: You create subdirectories within your existing domain

Create two different sites and post content and do seo. You can post translated content at any time, it will be counted as unique from original one.

i would also say just create a multilingual site instead of having 2 copies. the result would be the same, but its easier to manage as you have everything in the same place (plus you don't need an extra domain).

You should make a multilingual website, it would be better in terms of overall authority instead of 2 separate websites,
Just make sure to use hreflang meta tags, you don't want each of these pages targeting the same keywords without it,
There a few wp plugins made for this, they make the work pretty easy

Thank you all for the replies.

Thinking about creating just one website, it comes to my mind at least 3 questions:
1) Once my blog will be about a specific niche (and not a brand), any advice on what should be the wording on the domain name? i.e. if the blog is about laptops, it's written in different ways in different languages: different words same meaning.
2) About backlinks to the main domain, how do you work on this? In which language? both? targeting different keywords (in different languages but with the same meaning?)
3) Is there any WordPress plugin to easily do this? I was thinking about using the usual plugins to manage the wordpress website (yoast, etc), but I guess that the website will need a different structure to be multilingual, right?

Any other opinion is welcome :)

Thank you,

make it short, unique, easy to pronounce/write and even easier to remember,
that's all what you'll need

You can go for English only backlinks to both of the languages homepage/posts, they do the work pretty well,
If you have any doubt or you just want to avoid this, build English links to the English pages & Spanish links to Spanish pages (just as example),
just make sure to stick with decent quality for whatever link you're building

Go with WPML & Yoast (+Yoast multilingual), it does the work decently without any problems,
You can download all of these in the downloads section for free, check it out!
