Err.. a vps is a virtual private server, sort of a remote computer, so not sure how you are gonna make money with that?

you could try installing a btc miner, but without a decent graphics card its going to take you a long time to break even

VPS or VDS = Virtual Private Server or Virtual Dedicated Server.
Which means it's better than shared hosting and "worse" than a dedicated server.
But you can do stuff similar to owning a dedi server, but cheaper.
With Windows VPS you can run 24/7 bots to gain followers and stuff (which means money)
With Linux VPS (or just simple hosting) you can run wordpress blogs, place ads = monetization.
You can also re-sell hosting services but as you mentioned you don't want to offer services.

So you basically have a remote computer and want to make money by just having it turned on? If there was a way to do that VPS services wouldn't rent VPS but would just set them up, boot them and collect money... You have to put effort in whatever you do in order to earn. If making money was that easy everyone on planet earth would be rich. No offense but come on...
