You can make money through blogging in a multiple ways. But as other's said, the most known and effective way of earning money through blogging is ad sense.
Also, there are multiple ways to get traffic such as guest posts, social media shares, comments, etc.. You can get traffic without SEO or social media too. Let me explain how it works..
All you have to do is find popular blogs in your niche and bring the already existing traffic back to your blog. It includes below two steps,
- you have to find relevant posts on high traffic blogs. You can use Google alerts for this process.
- once you found relevant posts, write a relevant and helpful comment and link to your post instead of link to your home page. So that, they will immediately click through your link and engage your blog.

With affiliate marketing. promoting products. wayyyy more profit than google ads with much bigger pay outs. using both though is effective

Blogging has many methods to make money online. We can make use of the programs Adsense and Affiliate marketing to monetize from the blog.I am using Adsense and affiliate program for my blog and I am happy with my earnings.Sell some space on the blog for Performance ads or banner ads.You can also Affiliate marketing like name dropping or include some big brands to get money from them.Do write some reviews of some products, services, businesses etc for money.Join the affiliate program with Amazon, ShareAsale etc.Affiliate program is good is you are building review sites. But if you just want to monetize your blog then google adsense or CPA like my fellow warrior said is best as long as your blog is getting enough traffic from the search engines and from diverse traffic platform.and also do SEO to your site to get a traffic,and use the social media,etc..

Here is the honest answer, you can start blog with adsense and you can drive free traffic from groups on facebook (by posting on groups) and when you start getting $$ from adsense you can go with paid traffic and later you can import some CB products on your articles and when you start getting sales you can remove adsense. Once you reach your pro affiliate level of selling products on your site than you succeed on blogging

Google adsense is tricky, because they can easily ban you without any prior notification.

Make your own product. I would recommend a membership site .. Give them a freebie in return for their email, hit them with a couple more helpful tips, then shove some product down their throat.
