How would you make money if you had a language exchange community/website with more than 1.000.000 members?

- People from all over the world (you would know what languages they speak, what languages they learn and what countries they would like to visit)
- Around 30k-60k active members daily

I dont show Google Ads yet since I waited to have a LOT of members first.

1 - I'm a developer, so if there's any feature you would add, I would appreciate your explanation on how it would help.
2 - I'd also appreciate if you had an estimate on how much $$ your approach could make daily.

I have a few things in mind, but I know there are plenty of experts here.

Curious to know your thoughts! Thank you in advance.

It depends on the niche... I have pretty large website, but my costomers seems to be school&studens so they dont have money.

Who are your competitors....what kind of display ads are they shown there? This is the quickest way to see what [usually] works for someone else in your niche.

Generally, making a paid subscription tier is a good idea (think bhw jr-vip, tinder gold, etc). Put certain quality of life features behind a paywall. Again, look at your competitors. Could be as simple as putting a "supporter" badge in their username. You build solid monthly rebills.

Interpals comes to mind. Old and still alive language exchange website. Doesn't look like they are monetizing much outside of adsense and a donation link in footer.

Google "adsense estimation calculator" and figure it out.

  1. Premium membership: Offer exclusive benefits for a monthly or annual fee, such as unlimited language partners, priority messaging, and access to advanced language learning resources.
  2. Advertising: Partner with language learning or travel companies to display their ads on your site.
  3. E-commerce: Offer language-related products, such as books, courses, and software, through affiliate marketing or your own e-commerce platform.
  4. Job/Freelance marketplace: Connect language learners with language tutors, translators, and other language professionals.

Correct, Interpals is one of the biggest competitors but none of them seem to be doing much, thats why I dont have so many ideas.

I believe I'm in a blue ocean.

Thank you for the insights!

Perfect, they all make sense.

I'll study the best ways to implement those. Thank you!

look at other social sites, particularly dating sites. even non-mainstream ones like feabie and fetlife. you'll never run out of ideas of ordinary things to turn into premium features.
ex limit amount of profiles you can view per day. limit amount of full-resolution pictures to view per day (then default to thumbnails). limit unique usernames to contact per day. limit inbox size. limit gallery size.
@coitza job/freelancer marketplace is really smart and out of the box idea
you could also get affiliate links for stuff like rosetta stone, duolingo, and other prominent products in your niche.

I have observed you a little. I don't want to know much from you ma just a tiny bit of your wisdom would just be fine for me.
How do I see any prospects online that I may use to make even 3usd daily. And maybe I can work my way up. Thank you for your time reading this.

Wow...Not many people have that!

Are they all active members though?

I think you have waited too long. Should have Incorporated this earlier. It would have given you an idea how much money your site can earn with ads.

How much traffic do you have per month?

focus on the tour and travel section since it'll attract easy pay2promote for b2b
