@Scorpion Ghost have you tried firefox ESR version instead of usual firefox?
I'm just quoting this to say I took a look at ESR, but I'll stick with regular Firefox. Thanks
Upgrade your RAM Memory as 8 GB mate
This lap top is like an old car. I don't wanna invest money in the old car, I just want to ride the way it is 'till it dies!
Only SSD will make difference!

That is a very basic laptop. So yeah expect to face issues from time to time in 2018. If I was you, I would have bought an i3 laptop +4 gb ram and swapped the hdd with an ssd.
So, you mean macbooks don't have any kind of tech issues like the one OP is having? No freezing, no lagging, and nothing?

If you don't want to buy things, maybe automation will help you. If you have to restart the laptop by hand every 10 hrs, then maybe it's good to make it restart by itself every 6-8 hrs, by using a .bat file
I can't help you with the code, but Google will know it.
I'm quoting this because I will get around to looking into this shortly. This would be Amazing if I can pull it off. Amazing idea. Thanks
uhhh also something else totaly forgot,,, if you have an usb extra that you dont use . you can make it a part of windows so when the spare memory it is used by firexfox it also uses the memory of usb stick , also you can do that by using your hdd dedicate a part of hdd for more space ram ) Kinda like swap in linux .. But yeah if you are looking for that pc this are the things that you can do effects off programs and drivers that boot in begining off . but the best situation would be linux , i mean regarding the script most of windows scripts work on linux so give it a shot to see if you can make it , test your script on linux live cd and if it works just switch that helps way to much with memory , also dont try if someone tells you try windows xp , since none of the websites of browsers anymore opens on windows xp
I'm quoting this because I will get around to looking into this shortly. I actually do have 2 USBs that I don't really use. One is ancient and only has 128 MB, the other is recent and has 8 GB on it. This would be Amazing if I can pull it off. Amazing idea. Thanks
I actually ran into this in one article -
https://fossbytes.com/speed-up-windows-performance-tips/
I don't understand what this does exactly, so I will look into it and decide if I'll do something with this or not. Thanks
I think you missed what I was saying, I was not saying that if you run 1 FF instance then your computer will run quicker overall I was saying that you may find that 5 instances actually run faster, producing more results, than running 15 instances that are all bogged down.
If you are in a situation where every processes is trying to get access to system resources that just aren't there then you could well be lowering overall results by having more instances.
For example, I have a software that can run 1000 threads if you want to but for most people 50-100 threads will be far faster than having 500 threads purely because at 500 threads their internet connection is blocked so everything is really slow for all threads and timeouts occur all the time slowing everything down.
Long story short is that disabling some Windows features that are using up a few megabytes and CPU cycles is highly unlikely to make a lick of difference when you are using multiple instances of a browser known for being a memory hog with scripts on a machine with just 4Gb memory. I dunno what makes it a memory hog, I just don't use it much because it is such a resource hog and slower than alternatives.
You're saying the same thing. If I run 1 instance it will run quicker than if I run 5, and running 5 will run quicker than if I run 15. I've already established the max instances the lap top can handle. It's 5 browsers running at the same time. I've already established that.
I understand. Thanks for the explanation. Crystal clear.
Well, it may not make a big difference, but it'll make a lick of difference. I really stripped Windows of a lot of "rings and bells" already. I'm going to hack Firefox next. Also what some other members mentioned, I'll try to set up USB to help with memory, and set up an automated restart every X hours. All these things will make it faster and better. I can already tell a lick of difference towards the better
This is a retarded as fuck thread. You have 4GB ram and windows 8 or windows 10 and you are complaining about it being slow. Let me be totally fucking honest. There is fuck all you can do about it. 4GB on windows is fucking nothing . It doesnt matter how many tricks you do it will make no fdifference the problem is the RAM you have is not enough.
It sounds like your problem is you are a fucking cheapskate and cannot spent even $30 to buy some more ram. Put another 4GB ram in there and boom your problem is sorted. to be honest i wouldnt even use less than 12GB with windows. That $30 is saving you a shitload of anger and rage at a slow pc.
If you cant upgrade the ram the only other option you have is to rent a windows VM in the cloud. (EG. paperspace you can get a 12GB windows vm with A GPU for $5-10 per month. Not bad ).
A small thing you can do AFTER getting more ram is upgrade to windows 10 and uninstall all the shit (msn news, games, apps) that fucking slows windows down. This requires some skillz to use powershell . anyway here is some an example scripts that will do the job for you (run with admin privileges):
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=chocolatey+minimum+install+script+gist&oq=chocolatey+minimum+install+script+gist
Finally when you've done all of the above you'll realize the ultimate answer: windows is shit, will always be shit and sucks like hell. Then you'll have an epiphany and start using linux or mac. Ubuntu is even better than mac and the ultimate option (preferably xubuntu for a true experience) .but admittedly requires a serious skillz upgrade. But for anyone who doesn't see the value in learning about technology..... well you're fucked anyway in this day and age.
This thread is not retarded. You are retarded. Fuck you.
I am a cheapskate, or maybe I'm not, fuck you again.
I have no anger and rage at THIS slow PC. I understand the PC is old and there's only so much it can handle. But I am working towards making it as efficient as possible considering its specs and age. And I'm very happy with the progress I've achieved so far with things I've discovered and with things productive members here contributed to my thread.
Thank you for the advice, but I am not looking to spend money. I don't need to. This lap top is like an old car. I don't wanna invest money in the old car, I just want to ride the way it is 'till it dies!
Windows may be shit, I don't know. Windows is all I've ever used. But I am extremely busy and have no time to start learning a new operating system. Maybe some day, but not any time soon.
Thank you
More ram for sure, ssd optionally.
Im running similar scripts with 200 firefox instances per server so you can be sure i know what im talking about.
I see you dont want to make any upgrades, but there is no way around that.
1. If you run FF for a long time it will eat shitload of ram (1gb and more is possible), now think how much ram you have. When your lap is out of ram it starts to use hdd instead of ram, hdd is slow as fuck compared to ram and thats why your pc is lagging.
2. Dont install any plugins, extensions in this portable firefox instances. Plugins are traceable, if you do something on some site they can track whole your activity because of plugins you use.
Run only 1 portable firefox instance as long as you need to run it. Check ram usage in task manager for this firefox instance. Multiply this ram usage by number of firefox instances you want to run. Add 30-50% to this number just for safety and you have an amount of ram you need. Upgrade ram, done.
3. Ssd here wont make any big changes unless you want to run really alot firefox instances (20 and more). Focus on more ram.
This lap top is like an old car. I don't wanna invest money in the old car, I just want to ride the way it is 'till it dies!
1. I will implement (if successful) automated restarts on the lap top every X hours. That should actually deal with this. We'll see, I'll have to test it out.
2. I don't care if I'm traceable. The things I'm doing, the way I do them, being traceable or untraceable is not important to me at all. I don't give a shit. But thanks for the advice.
I've already established I can run 5 Firefoxes for about 10 hours before it starts losing its mind. That's all the lap top can handle. I don't need to check ram usage, I already know.
3. Not looking to spend money, but if I were I should focus on Ram. Got it. Crystal clear. Thank you
Hi, I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question but I've actually been needing some help getting started with Firefox Portable browser user profiles. I've never used them before but I just purchased a new PayPal and I need to use a Firefox Portable browser but I also have to put the cookies file into this new user to make sure the PayPal account doesn't get limited. Do you know anything about transferring the cookies? I can't get it figured out and I'm super eager to get started because I paid $1k for this account! anyways, let me know if you can help plzz
The portable Firefox will always retain the same cookies it has on it. If you don't have Cookies to be cleared on restart, and if you don't remove the cookies manually, then the browser will always have the same cookies I'm pretty sure. About transferring cookies, well, I would imagine you can go in the folder of your portable Firefox and locate the folder where the cookies are, and then just move it to the portable Firefox that you want to use for this. But I'm not sure which folder that would be. Look it up on Google.
This is basically THE answer. Run far less instances for some time to figure out what the memory usage on each instance will be and then use that many, once you go over the maximum you will essentially be slowing the whole process down with every new instance.
You can spend weeks tweaking this and that but ultimately you are limited by ram and running that many instances of FF is not gonna happen efficiently with 4Gb.
I already know. It's 5 instances. That's it.
Well, you got answers here from people who make living by making bots and selling them on BHW like
@jimbobo2779, and others who know their stuff and still.... you are looking for other way.
There is no other way, upgrade ram instead of wasting your time.
Hdd dont have influence on performance in your case.
More free space wont help.
Format wont help.
This lap top is like an old car. I don't wanna invest money in the old car, I just want to ride the way it is 'till it dies!
And there is another way. I've been implementing things and hacks to Windows all day. Format, Disable indexing, disable animations, make sure no unnecessary programs run in the background, other things I've done and will do. Of course the lap top won't start flying all of a sudden, but many things can be done to make it faster. I've been doing them.
Thanks
