That is false. The OP is right. There is a set amount of calories, which preserves your weight (it varies by person), if you eat less calories, you'll loose weight. That's what is basic science. Exercising is not needed, although it speeds up the process and you'll see the results much sooner.
Just think about when someone gets into a hospital for a few weeks. He/she can't eat properly for whatever reason, you can be sure, that he/she will be a few kgs lighter when he/she gets out and not because he/she exercised there, but simply because there were a smaller calorie intake than his/her usual while lying all day in a bed, so with even less activity than usual.
I did loose weight with both lowering the calorie intake and lowering the calorie intake plus exercising. With the latter i lost 20 kgs in 2 months after i graduated from highschool. And after that a couple of times i lost a few kgs with the former technique. If you are not in a hurry and want to loose just a few kgs, exercising is definitely not needed. You can do that in a month just by eating less calories than what preserves your weight.

Vegans, forever trying to push their shite unhealthy diets upon people. A vegan diet is far from healthy, end of story. It is bad for your heart, and also increases the risk of cancer, no matter what little unicorn who lives in bushes blog says.
im suprised no one dropped an affiliate link for garcinia cambogia lol

And what does this have to do with losing weight? Primarily it's not the animal products, especially not lean meat, which make you fat, but the food which contain lots of carbohydrates: pasta, bread, soft drinks with lots of sugar etc, normally people consume a lot more from these than from animal fat. None of those are animal products, but products made from the parts of different plants. If you cut out refined carbs, you can lose weight faster than if you cut out fats.Stay away from animal foods (meat, dairy, eggs) and eat whole food, plant based and eat as much as you want .. Yea, the jojo effect. That's true but you are running the risk that your weight goes back up when you start eating normal again. The diet is the easy thing. The Hard thing is to keep that weight afterwards and live a normal healthy lifestyle again.
I think the best way would be to inject AIDS virus into your body. You will start seeing results after a year or so, but that result would be drastic. Hope it helps.

Maybe it's just me, but after i consumed less calories for a longer period of time, i didn't crave more than that, so i didn't gain the weight back. In the colder seasons i always gain weight, not too much, but i guess that's normal.
