Well, that's not a bad idea.
As I told before on page optimization like content, internal linking, using proper site structure will improve DA.
Get niche relevant high DA links. Don't go for quantity. Quality links will be the main reasons to improve your metrics.
Make sure you won't get caught by google for giving paid links.
Don't accept all kinds niche sites if you are going to maintain niche relevant blog.
Concentrate on unique content.

Point relevant and quality links. Links from high authority site, Guest posting, .edu links, links from unique referring domains, will help. For guest posting, you should have quality content and proper internal linking. It also adds some value.

If you just want to increase your DA all you need is a good long blast from GSA. Site will probably never rank for anything again but the DA will be good.
Don't chase third party metrix! Google doesn't care what your DA is. Work at making quality content and what it takes to rank the page. Backlinks are part of it but there is more to it than just getting high DA links.

Yes, exactly! Do you have a doubt about it? Well, I've built one brand new niche blog for sharing knowledge. From scratch, I've only concentrated on on-page SEO like everything you think about On-page. Post contents frequently, the word count have been around 400 to 600 depends on the topics.Are you sure?
To be frank, I didn't build any kind of backlinks yet. Only shared my posts on FB. But, the domain authority has increased gradually.
The backlink is one of the ways to increase DA, but that's not an important factor. So focus on on-page Content. If your content has more depth and knowledge then users will stay on your page. It will surely increase the authority of your website.
