Trackback blast is still an efficient way of building a mass amount of backlinks pointing to your site, supported by several tools by primary by Scrapebox.

There are quite a few auto approved blogs where you can post you trackbacks, but usually they are moderated pretty much all high pr blogs; and if you can create a creating comment to be approved it is a bit more trickier to get a trackback approve as blog admin is usually wants to see the site that was quoting and linking to his site. Once admin clicked on the link and did find neither link back nor any mention of his site he will not only disapprove your trackback, but will fill angry because of the wasted time and might even report your site.
Few days ago I decided to run a massive trackback blast over 301 redirects pointing to my main site and once it started I start seeing blog admins checking my site. Bounce rate - 100%, stay on the site - 10sec. Everyone does the same - click, quick look, go back and disapprove. Would be so nice to get a trackback approved as those are high pr blogs...

Yesterday morning I added some logic to my site as following
If request comes from the url containing /wp-admin/
    • grab domain where user came from
    • lookup for a latest post on the blog and retrieve title, url and description
    • build snippet on the side "Popular News" with the 5 latest blog post retrieved

Now when blog admin comes to the site he sees his latest article on the top of the "Popular Read" section with the link back to his site.

As you understand "Popular News" section displayed _only_ to blog admins, for the rest of the visitors site looks same as it was before, without "News" section.

Bounce rate for this type of traffic went down immediately from 99% to 62% and I see many admins checking the link back to his site and some browsing through the site.

In the few days I expect to see some good PR links and I definitely less worry about too many admins reporting my site.

I don't think that they will see the snippet as you need to be logged in to see it as I understand

    Am I wrong ?

no, you don't need to be logged in. I dynamically check referer and if visitor comes from /wp-admin -pull his latest post and enable "popular news" snippet for the duration of the user's session. From the visitor perspective it is a site-wide snippet - wherever he clicks - he sees his post on the side.

    That's pretty awesome indeed.
Mind sharing the code to do it?
