Hello,

Not if you want it to help you rank, if that's not the purpose of the 301, then yes block Google bots from your site (easier said than done). To rank through a 301, the Google bots need to crawl it, if the bots crawl it the WMT has it.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the reply very helpfull, but got couple of questions if you dont mind are the following:

1) Lets say I block googlebot so 301 redirection does not appear on WMT, would the link juice pass to affect ranking in anyway at all?? or to do so, has to be index to google?

2) Another scenario is that I 301 redirect to my domain a penalize domain that is desindex by google would that affect my ranking in anyway at all?

Thanks again guys!

If you block G to see it then there is no way the link juice will be passed.

Hey man,

Thanks for the reply, just one question lets say I have 10 links of my site index on G and I block googlebot, would this links dissapear from its index or juice can passed through those 10 links?

Thanks!

If you block them from gbot later on they will end up deindexed and passing no juice.

You could block googlebot via htaccess to flow the traffic through, but no link juice passed.

1. If you block googlebot, zero link juice passes.
2. Penalties and filters can pass via a 301, too. Doesn't mean they always do, but there is a risk.

But, I dont get that does not pass juice because if I had a domain with lets say 3k backlinks and I block google bot and make a redirection to another domain this 3k domains are index on google allowing google bot so link juice should pass to this domain I am redirecting since he is not blocking google bot and what you are doing with 301 is basically passing this 3k domains to the new domain so juice should flow.

Please correct me if I am wrong because personally I am not so sure juice dont flow

So is imposible to hide from WMT a 301 redirection? Is there any way at all you guys could think of?

Thanks!
