I am a newbie blogger.I have already worked on blogger and then I shifted to wordpress with a hope that I will get better traffic and interface.But there are lot of things that I don`t know.I just know how to write a article and publish on wordpress.I personally don`t like using fake ways to get traffic but I don`t know how to get a good traffic and how to choose a topic for a post.Please guide me as I am very tensed.

Are you using WordPress.com or do you have your own site?
You're very limited on someone else's hosting, so I recommend to get your own site ASAP. After you've done that, then start blogging regularly. Have original, quality posts. Then begin backlinking.This means tweet, +1, like every post you make. Then start posting on other blogs and looking for guest blog spots. Keep your social media interests up -- that is a great way to look good.
That should take care of your start.
Then when you get really good, offer something special as an opt-in to your blog to receive updates. Could be a Report, Audio, Video, Exceptionally-Written Newsletter, something to get them to opt-in.
After all that you should be doing well in traffic. Keep blogging and it should grow naturally. You have to really grind it out for the first 3 months or so before it begins to take care of itself.
 
Use social media for getting traffic.
 
It all depends on how YOU want to promote it..

Are you interested in "free" or paid traffic?

If you're interested in free - then research seo, youtube, article marketing, facebook fan pages, etc

If you're interested in paid - then research ppc, ppv, social media, media buys, etc

From there then determine which traffic source you're interested in, then from there come up with a technique to drive that traffic source and convert it into conversions
 
Do some guest posts. Contact blogs in the same niche as yours, offer to write for them, and plug your own site while doing it.
 
Make 5 accounts in Fb and then spam as much as you can. :D
 
Go on Yahoo Answers advertising your Blog in similar niches while giving insightful answers.
 
You don't know how to write a article and you even don't know to post it. Sad buddy but I think you need to get in touch with a blogger and get his guidance for few months because starting such threads won't solve your purpose. I seriously recommend to get started.
 
Go to you tube, and learn wordpress. It won't take a day unless you have a brain injury.

One step at a time mate, you have to travel to your goal, you can't teleport there!
 
You have a long way to get good traffic on your site, but if you start today the chance are best to get traffic.
 
I agree with Typlo, there are so many choices, it all depends on how you want to market it.
 
Well it need a good amount of effort, You need to complete the design and then you need to put some keyword research to write content accordingly related to your niche. And the exercise should be continued with effective internal liking, external linking, spreading content related to your niche, social media marketing and social bookmarking.
If you can't put all this effort, you can use the method several people are following, Outsource Content, Or a full fledged SEO individual for that purpose! If you have domain you need to start it.........This is the first step of SEO
