How to get high-quality backlinks in exchange for quality articles?

I created a blog 8 months back. As I am a medical student, I feel comfortable writing on different health topics. I picked some low-competition keywords and wrote quality content on them. But my site content is not ranking well.

I have no money to buy backlinks. So, my site is not growing authority.

What can I do now? Do any high authority sites give backlinks free if I give them quality articles?

the medical niche is heavily regulated by google, I think you'll have a hard time ranking in it without backlinks and without a trustworthy domain in general.

And I don't think people accept guest posts for free, but you can try. Check out these sites, maybe you'll find something useful:

You can make such a deal with someone. You will have to contact a lot of webmasters where you want the link and negotiate the deal with them.

Do the following:

1) You can monetize that skill on Kolabtree or on Upwork

2) If you're still a student, your content is not gonna rank. However, once u graduate, become a phD etc, you can use schema markup to let Google know that you re an expert in your field, and that u know what you re writing about.
You could even do it now, but since you re a student, google won't rank u as high as if u were already a phD. The higher your expertise in the field, the higher Google will rank you.

Don't waste your time with backlinks. Even if you paid for thousands of backlinks, I doubt your content would rank above the content of veteran practitioners and experts in the field (basically because for these sorts of topics, Google puts EAT as the main factor to decide who to rank)

Like someone mentioned earlier, first page results in the medical niche are available mainly to medical sites as per Google's EAT guidelines. So instead of spending too much time on rankings, you can use social media to get traffic. There are bloggers who use Pinterest and Instagram to get a good amount of traffic to their sites. Of course it involves more work creating images, posting them and being active on those platforms but it is worth it in the long term.
