• One: Google may decide to display content from just one site out of the collection of “doorway” sites.
• Two: If Google regards a collection of similar content sites as being “doorways” then it might demote all of them.

So there's a major chance of getting demoted of these sites and by these sites. According to me that's a bad idea to get links on such sites.

Anyways, there is also an option to go to the hosting provider.
If you can't find their e-mail on the contact page or if the e-mail isn't working.
The e-mail address is securely decrypted on the WhoIs page as well, if I'm not wrong.
Or a public online service like that.

Most of my comptetitors have 1k links in total from these sites only and they rank pretty well on google and some of them have links from these sites more than a year. I don't think Google will penalized someone for links from these sites and also quantity is still helps. I prepefer 1000 links from these sites instead of 1 link from forbes.

Dude you are far more behind from the present. As above mentioned Quantity over Quality. I'm not saying quantity is dead or something. If you want to maintain your website's link profile then you must get these links too but as you mentioned these sites are paid and you'll pay for like 1000 of links to get demoted in future. That's bullshit man!!!
I'll say if you have money and want to invest in links then you must invest in the other option you said. Get few links from sites which will give you both TRAFFIC AND POSSIBILITIES OF RANKINGS.
It will cost you a bit more but I'm sure you'll get to beat all of your competitors.
If your competitors are already ranking good in search engines and have their links on these sites then they also must have some high quality links too which you maybe ignoring or something. You have to follow both but don't pay to get demoted, ~personal advice.
