It gets indexed automatically.
There's a checkbox that you can check/uncheck that allows/disallows search engines to index your website/blog.
You can also try pinging, but it's really not necessary. WP is usually pretty good at sending updates to search engines.

Add some great content and ping links. Google will index u in 3 days. Make sure ur link structure is not the default.

how do i make sure its not default? I can't change the site much because it's the free one. Also does Google mind that I am constantly submitting sitemaps on their webmaster page from the same ip? (for all the tier 1 and 2 blogs)
