How to forecast keyword rankings????

Hi guys,

I'm having trouble coming up with the best and realistic approach to forecast future rankings for a client web site. I already know how to forecast traffic by keyword rank. But i just don't know the best approach/formula to forecast the keyword ranking positions. For example the projected ranking for: month 1, month 2, month 3 through to month 12 and so on etc.....

Please help thanks.
