I wouldn't really consider bloggers exchanging links as a "unique method"
A>B Link exchanges have been around since the days of the Netscape browser.
If you're looking for a powerful method, that doesn't take much money, but requires quite a bit of thinking and deliberation, I would suggest that you look into using data driven press releases.
The key here is to use press releases the way they were intended to be used.
I'm talking about newsworthy press releases.
If the website that you're trying to promote has access to industry data that is somehow tied to a trending topic or something controversial, your newsworthy press release might gain attraction.
And when you do that you suddenly start getting links from mainstream news sites.
Once you get on the radar of industry insiders, then other people in your industry, especially those with blogs, will start talking about you.
This approach doesn't take much time.
But it does require quite a bit of thinking.
It doesn't take much money.
But it does take quite a bit of deliberation.
