I am looking for a situation where I don't know the site's domain. All I know is the niche I am interested in. I am curious to know how it is possible to track down websites that existed in the past in my niche.

Try to use Archive. org . You know use url and aswell keywords.

Go to expireddomains.net put your keyword, select year of birth, after that go to web. Archive. Org and check that domain

Next, https://archive.org/web/ have a look at the contents of the sites
Finally when you find something you like. Copy-paste it into a plagiarism checker

Use expireddomains.net, put your target keyword as a filter and then filter domains by ACR
There may be lots of content already used by others, so I advice to use godaddy auctions or pending delete tab, there are some new domains.
Another way - find expiring domain in your niche which is still in index, get some content from there and after the pages go out of the index, you can post the content, it's unique n google eyes.
Tip - don't use plagitarism checkers, they are mostly not accurate. Just take a phrase of 5-7 words from the text, put them in brackets " " and google. You will see if the content is unique or not
