How to detect PBN's on competitor sites?

Anyone know how to figure out if a competitor is using PBN links?

For ex when you see a low DR site ranking for powerful keywords, there is obviously a suspicion. But is there a way to prove it?

First, those PBNs shouldn't be hidden from Ahrefs or other bots. If they're visible - then analyse their backlinks profile and look for the referring domains with 0 traffic & low DR (<30) at least. Then - manually analyse the results and search for blogs (mostly wordpress). Here you're
 
Most of them will remain hidden and block all crawlers from SEO tools
 
if they are well hidden then you cant see them with standard tools.
there are some tricks, but nobody will share that otherwise they risk getting their own PBN detected ;)
