How To Create An Authority Site - Solid Site Foundation

I would go with Keyword Research, simple and sweet guide to the point like the one above!

Thank You!

so, if you have 300 other keyword pages you will have a link for each one on your root page?

The information you provided is Strong like Bull.

@ZSO Please expanded version of the authority site - this is well needed here. We don't need more CPA or rank and burn tut's - we need authority sites!

Also if you want to throw in some SEO tutorials/pointers of course we couldn't refuse :-)

XH

Ok so I have some questions, I don't really feel like reading all 150 posts to see if it was already answered :D sorry.

I'm planning to do some ClickBank, and I know I need a big list for that, and for a big list I need a lot of traffic, so for a lot of traffic I need a lot of content.

My question is : Can you build a solid site all by yourself ? I mean, I don't yet have the money to spend on articles, videos, SEO, etc.
And it's not that I wouldn't spend, it's just I don't have enough to test. A solo ad blast would be around 250$, which is by far too much for me to "test" something.

So, can you grow your list by writing lots of articles on all subjects by yourself, creating videos, do small blacklinking and social bookmarking/sharing SEO strategies, or will it just overwhelm anyone ?

Have you ever done something like that ? Create a profitable site out of only Domain + Hosting investment, something which I already have ?

Thank you very much for this well written and enlightening post.
I am in the process of implementing your recommendations. Regarding your htaccess advice, the following two lines create a 403 error on my shared hostgator account::confused:
Code:
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^.*(\[|\]|\(|\)||>|ê|"|;|\?|\*|=$).* [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^.*("|'|<|>|\|{||).* [NC,OR]
I thought it may be related to the special character filters used in the RewriteCond command, but as they say "htaccess mods are taboo".
If you have any quick advice it would be most welcome, I don't want to take your time debugging it. You give enough pointers to keep me busy implementing the rest of your recommendations.
I look forward to your threads and wish you all the best:)

No. The site will rank naturally for all it's pages if it has some strong backlinks.

I second what others have been saying here; I would love to see a guide on keyword research, that's what I've been struggling with the most.

I have reading the op cut and pasted it into a daily plan to build up my sites

Thank you very much for this fantastic thread. This thread has inspired me to take action and make this my next side project since I've almost finished my current one. The thing that I've never liked about these sites is the thought of dropping that much money into articles, which is ridiculous because I'll drop double that onto high PR domains, but I don't like paying for quality content. I also don't have someone that I can pay to set it up for me (and getting 50 quality articles onto a site is going to be a real bitch), but hey, I'm going to do this - I've got the niche I want to try it for.

Interesting that you say that adsense should be the last resort. I've had good experience with adsense and its been very profitable.

I suspect that purchasing a high PR, aged domain would be very beneficial in speeding up the process, even if the domain isn't directly relevant, so I think I'll try that.

Question: how niche-specific are your articles? 50-200+ articles is a lot for a very specific niche. For instance, would you make a website solely about pickup trucks, or would you also venture in other types of trucks/cars as well to make up article numbers without overlapping content?

Another question: have you ever been slapped by one of the google updates with a website, and did you learn any lessons/make any mistakes that you think would be good to share?

Also: I'd be very interested in seeing one of your websites. I'd be happy to share one of my websites in exchange that is making a lot of money with adsense - I think you'll be surprised by it, its very different.

Yes, is a must to avoid overlapping content when having an authority site.

Yes, been slapped when first Google updates run out and since then I've been learning that less is more.

Can I just say...listening to you say over and over how you're such a "big dog" gets pretty annoying. OK we get it, you think you're the sh1t..cool, lets all d1k size...and those random ass figures "15-30k" this or 500/day that...they're just random numbers. Nobody should listen to that.

Thanks for the detailed guide. I love reading anything about authority sites and it seems you know what you're talking about. I would like to see how you go about keyword research. I'm building a small site now to get a feel for everything but next I want to build a site capable of $100 a day. Not really sure what to aim for though.

You can if you have the knowdlege. Even if you know how to do everything by yourself it's smart to outsource most of the tasks. It saves you time and allows yourself to take care of the more important tasks.

i agree with you. knowledge is power.

Thanks a load. One question how do you open a new Adsense account when you get banned?

I got my Adwords account banned, I want to open another one. I think the same procedure might work.

sooo who on BHW makes legit authority sites for sale? PM me or post here

There are many ways. The best way is to setup a LLC.
