Hey lads,

I'm working with a client who has some negative Yelp reviews from competitors. Unfortunately, she refuses to take my suggestion to do ORM because she feels like it's dirty.

For anyone who's had experience, how did you overcome this? Client has the money and I know she would benefit.

You can do clean ORM / ORM without fake reviews. Make it easy for real people to leave Yelp reviews and you can easily get a lot of them without spamming them yourself.

That's a good point. I'm considering getting someone to call up her past customers and get them to leave a review.

show statics of the business niche how it growing and the need to be on the ball these days as most online business can go bust from compitition.

show articles of business going bust becouse of bad reviews.

try to exsplain the importance of bad reviews effecting business in genral.

  • you need to grip on somethink that will eventually make them relise it a good idea , you need solid proof from other failing websites in that niche, from them not taking notice, and what happen and it can affect them aswell.
use papers,internet, video, images, reviews.

anythink that springs a nerve.

good luck

Reputation management is a hard sell if the person doesn't already see their need. For that reason, I never like to do any cold outreach as you first have to sell on the need, then sell yourself.

Very true.

I'll be on the lookout for a nice horror story article to send. Let me know if you find one ;)

OP, BHopkins is right on with this. If they don't see the need, then you may have to make them see it. In essence, you are selling drills. However, you need to sell the hole, not the drill itself. The client needs a hole, that is the pain point. A drill is a tool to fulfill that need/pain point. However, they don't care about how, they just care about the end result.

IF I remember correctly, there is a whitepaper floating around here in some ancient post. I'd search for that, download it, tweak it, and use that as your starting point.

Genuine reviews will do the work for you. But ORM is important since you can't afford to have too many negative reviews about your client.

Yup, we've found that giving past customers/clients some sort of branded giveaway is the best (though sometimes expensive) way to get those reviews.

Yes sure, giveaways always work. People always love to see offers or bonuses or giveaways kind of thing coming their way. So yes it's a good idea.
