How to check a websites traffic?

If it's your own site, you can do this with Google Analytics
Otherwise, you will only find an estimation based on keyword estimated volumes for each type of query (mobile and desktop) which is just a bare estimate that highly difers from reality most of the time in both sides (high and low estimations)
 
Ahrefs always shows less traffic. Their managers said the same
 
If its your own website. use google analytics
if competitor Similar web but it won't show much/
 
Assuming you don't have back-end access to the site(s) in question. - Similarweb is, probably, your best bet. But, in my experience, rather inaccurate... often... and last time I checked, you needed the Pro version to separate desktop vs mobile traffic data (but you'll have to verify that, I don't really remember).
 
You can use similarweb extension mate . its free tool for check a websites traffic
 
I would prefer the google analytics it's a free tool as well to check everything
