How To Build A Network?

I've been advised to build a blog network to boost up my site.

I've actually been building a network already though, just not blogs - they're full sites with minimal ads and aff links, but more than just blank auto-blog looking content. The only problem is they're not on different C-Class IPs. They all have private registration too, and most of the domains were registered on the same day.

Should I even bother trying to use these as a network to boost up main sites?

Or do I need to start from scratch?

Hello Furyfit,

I don't see any reason to be worried about them being all registered on the same day other than the age of the domain being new so it doesn't get as much credit from google but you can deal with that.

The problem is the c-class IPs. If you host all your network on the same server and with the same IP then it won't provide as much power to your backlinks because google does check to see if links comes from same source (IP).

There is a lot of private networks out there with class-c IPs on which you could post for less than you'll spend to build a decent private network.

I appreicate your valuable time answering my question.

They are on different dedicated IPs, so not all on the same IP. They just are mostly on the same C-Class.

I'm trying to get into more private networks but all I've found is BuildMyRank for example, and the sites in these networks are almost always PR0 with very low quality. My sites are actually sites you wouldn't be surprised to see ranking in their niche. So I'm trying to build an actual network of authority sites ONLY applicable to my niche.

Well then rank those ones for the keywords and nofollow funnel the traffic to money site and start new ones on different IPs.
I have about 60 in my network and about 2/3 of them in the top 10 for their targeted terms. I'll then use the link juice for money site as well.

Exactly - what is nofollow-funneling though? It sounds like you're putting in-content nofollow text links to your money site.

My understanding they need to be different class c ips. Can you not purchase more ips and spread them out? I believe they cunt all website on one ip as one website. You do need ip diversity to have a successful blog network.

As I've said twice, they're all on different IPs. But the IPs are mostly on the same C-Class.

They are not on the same IP. Does that make a difference?

i own very tiny private network which i built just for my sites . and most of them are having Pr5+giving me awesome linkjuice .and you know that 15 sites hosted at just 3 web hosting company thats it no problem at all

Yeah, text links, recommendations, mailing list, banners. Can even make them 'affiliate' banners.

Ah ok, that's what I've been doing the whole time, but very subtly and not very often. I.E. not on all the sites. For example, I have a list of recommended stores to buy the product in question. But the stores are actually my aff sites.

Use multi C Class; IP diversity at the 4th element is NOT enough. Google will see these as part of the same neighbourhood or hosting company, as all hosting companies use multi D Class.

If your sites are on very similar niches, then put each on it's own C Class. I use up to 10 sites per C Class, but they are all on different topics, and are NEVER interlinked. DO NOT interlink them! It's a fingerprint. You do not want anything that provides an easy way of connecting them. Consider this with AdSense as well - as it's an automatic flag that all those sites are yours.

My network is over 500 sites - but It's been over a thousand, and I've built and sold multiple 250 site networks using our own proprietary software. Just stay on top of admin and use a good CMS and network management tool. We wrote our own.

This is truly the ONLY way of completely controlling your linking future - but it costs a lot of time and money - so weigh up the advantages and start small and gradual to justify the cost. We cost networks out at $1.50 per site per month - including URL and C CLass Hosting as an indicator. So a 250 site network costs around $375p.m. to host. No... that's not our build cost - before anyone asks! Just your ongoing fixed costs.

Everyone has opinions on PR - whether it's relevant; how much it affects ranking (I think it's less relevant than it's ever been - and you don't necessarily need it to influence rankings,) but at the same time, I want to try and build authority into a site to strengthen it.

I've been a professional SEO and web/ecommerce consultant since 2005, and I still couldn't tell you a sure-fire way. It seems luck of the draw quite often, all things considered -there are just so many variables. I suppose links from existing PR is the obvious answer - but hey.. you knew that!

Sorry, i meant your 'networks PR' not your money site PR. Obviously the higher the PR of your network then the greater the link juice effect of sites on the network.

Pretty much the same answer I'm afraid...

After all; a network is just a collection of sites. You can only affect the PR of an individual site - not en-masse to a network.

I suppose one point I could make, is that volume of pages does make a difference. It's harder to get a 10 page site to PR4 than a 1,000+ page site, as you've got a lot more pages to deep-link to.

...in fact: That would be my main recommendation. Build a lot of unique pages, and deep-link to them all. That's what we do. We normally have 1-3k pages, and every one has had article marketing and 2.0 backlinking done to them.

If that sounds like a big job - then yes it is. It always make me laugh when people talk about doing 'manual' link building rather than using toolz. Those fish wouldn't survive 5 seconds in any of my 'ponds'!

For building a lot of 'unique' pages - you need hyper-spun documents; See our Uber-Cubez guidelines here:

...and by unique I mean around 75%+. There is a lot of BS around what 'unique' content really means, but for intra-site, a higher percentage is more important; you don't want your site to look like a lot of internal duped pages.

This is the exact content method we use for building out entire networks. For software, we use our own systems - nothing off the shelf.

I create networks without any cost

It's not that hard really... But i cant do anything at the moment cause my software of choise in under heavy maitenance.

Really? We are not talking about free web 2.0 blog networks like Squidoo and Hubpages but actual website domains you own and host yourself.....
