Alright, this is for the noobs.
If you want to learn SEO but you dont have tons of time to sift through all the mind numbing posts on SEO forums, this is what you do.
#1 Find threads that give advise that makes sense to you. These are not necessarily threads that have lots of Reps or Thanks. These are threads with knowledge and techniques that just makes sense to you. Once you have found these threads, go to the OP (original posters) profile and start to read all the threads and posts they have made. (If they know what they are talking about in one post or thread, they probably know what they are talking about in others as well.)
#2 Search for the OP's forum name in Google and see if they post on other forums. If they do, then repeat step #1 above for those forums.
Before long you will have a free army of daily advisors that you can trust, guiding you along in your SEO endeavors.
