first you will need to learn how to operate photoshop and other graphics tool than you will need to make practice.
 
Practice, practice and practice. Learn from other graphic designers by reading blogs. Look at websites as well and try to experiment designs and ask for others opinion or suggestion about it.

I never studied design / IT and yet I earn my living as a designer.
There are much more important things (like passion, creativity, determination) than school.
