I have a problem with being organized, putting the information I read every day at some place and organize it for future projects etc. I guess many of you have the same problem, so my question is, how do you get organized?

Do you have to recommend me some desktop app (free if possible) that will be amazing for putting some reminders, notes, screenshots etc... Evernote is good, any other?

I have 2 main things I do to remain organised:
- Use Microsoft OneNote for reminders, plannings and (surprise) notes. You can even add Video's or Audio files to them.
- I use a lot of folders and subfolders, this way I can find documents easily, without having to check every single file.

Use airtable and invest in learning about scrum. It has changed my life

Man,I have had the same problem my whole life. I watched a udemy course "Mastering Planning" from Timothy Kenny.
I'm telling you,it changed my life.

I am in no way affiliated with this guy nor I have to win anything out of it but it is a GREAT course..

Send me a PM if you want

P.s: I did not suggest a software or site because this is the end game. The whole thing starts from you and your schedule/planning

I don't use any special productivity software, although I do go on a Google hunt for those types of programs every once in a while. I haven't found anything I'm impressed with yet. Honestly, most of the software I've seen is just unattractive. But I still manage to be pretty organized. Here are some general tips:
  • At the end of each month, I draw the next calendar month on the left side of my whiteboard. If I didn't have that, I probably wouldn't know what day it was. I also like to keep important future dates written down under the calendar and a short to do list on the right side of the board.
  • Next, I have a very organized desktop. Everything on my computer is neatly sectioned into subfolders upon subfolders of stuff since my high school days. Whenever I run out of space I just get a new external hard drive.
  • As for work, I like to keep an excel table of all of the things I'm doing. I have another tab in the same sheet for finances, how much I'm earning and where it's going.
  • And I like to write down small tasks in my notebook or on the whiteboard just for the satisfaction of crossing them off the list. Hey, it's the small things that matter.
  • If you're doing a big project, it's best to break everything up into small chunks. The smaller they are the easier they'll be to do.
  • Just try to organize your work around your personal schedule. If you're at your most productive at 10 pm, do all of the most important work at that time.
That's about it. And remember to take breaks and breathe fresh air.

If you are a nerd and like to make decisions based on analog data I would recommend getting an uncalender (full size). After establishing a strong system that fits your needs, I would either build a personal dashboard system if you know how to do some simple code or hire someone on fiverr for $100.00. You can take the analog systems you used over the year and implement them into a system that could then be automated online. Everyone has a different technique for finding their flow, this has worked well for me since I can refine parameters via analog over a long span and make sure they are perfect before coding the ideal system. It is very rare a pre-built organizer online will fit your needs to the T.

Use a spreadsheet or create a workflow with a service like airtable, which I highly recommend.

I use Google Keep. Easy searching and you can save pictures and reference notes directly in Google docs.

Well first thing i did was this.

Second thing was making. Bullshit Folder 1. 2 - 3 and now im upto 50 or something over 5 years hahaha.

I just use the good old notepad. Nothing beats it to be honest. Create sub-folders for each project with notepad file(s) inside.

Jocko Willink podcast help me with a lot of things. The most important thing is work on your dicipline like in everything be diciplined. Check his podcast!

Sit down, read some articles about how to be organized, and when you`re ready just pull your sh!t together and take action. As simple as that.

I love ios native notes app. Very handy to write down your ideas & thoughts everywhere.

I realized that to organize my work life, I first need to organize my environment.

You may be already doing this but organize and arrange your room and workspace (or office). Even goes as far to keep everything organized. Your car, drawers in your desk. Get your life organized than I guarantee getting your work organized will be natural.

My cousin in medical school gave me this advice when I was a freshman in college and I have been able to do phenomenal things even with the college workload.

As far as specifically what I do to organize my ideas and thoughts when reading is an old fashion paper and pencil. I also recently started doing the folders and subfolders but for the most part, just paper and pencil.

I couldn't agree more...I believe that organizing should stay analog. Even taking notes or writing ideas,I'm only doing that only when I'm on the move and I am not able to write it down but I make sure a write it down after I get back home.. I am not a fan of pc-related organizing tools because they fall under the digital cluster and I am keen to forget about them...and I mean...the point of organizing (for us,online-ninjas) is to avoid getting lost into the digital cluster, isn't it?
