PM me your "business keywords" and URL. I'll have a look and tell you what you need to do to improve your SERP.

    Welcome to BHW!

What have you been working on, daily for the last few months? Have you been focusing on-site or off-site? Are you tracking Analytics to find out your leading source for new traffic, bounce vs. conversion rate, etc.

The information you gave is very vague and I think if you answer some of the more common questions, you might get more valuable feedback here rather than explaining it over and over in several private messages. Things like:

    1) What is your website about?
    2) What are your keywords?
    3) What does your competition look like?
    4) How are you getting traffic?
    5) How are you keeping traffic?
    6) What are you doing to optimize so far, both on-site and off-site?

(You might save yourself a lot of time if you can post the link to your site. People here are pretty good at seeing what's missing that way.)

In most cases it can take a long time to rank in the top ten, especially if you're not the only one working at it for the same keywords. However, the best way to do it is by going super-specific on your keywords. Local search placement is super fast and easy, if it is relevant, but I can't say for sure without knowing what your site is about and who your target audience is.

This advice comes from a white hat SEO who mixes it with branding and marketing, so please take that into consideration. If you want long term results, I'd like to help you out.

This is so true. I'll chime in a couple of points.

What many people claim to be SEO work is nothing of the sort. Checking your stats, and then reading up on BHW or worse DP or WF, and then half heartedly trying a different method every day will not work.

At the same time, you would be amazed at what we miss when we are just starting out. Simple things like 'accidentally' banning all spiders in your WP, or using a domain you bought that had been indexed, or being hosted on a really bad IP, or you got hacked and Google thinks you are a scam site, or something else that small. Or you have installed every plugin known to man on your WP site, and it is now as slow as molasses.

At the same time too, don't forget that your competitors are not just sitting there waiting for you to catch up with them. They are busy working on their sites too, and if you are coming from behind, you have to work much faster, *and* much smarter.

As it stands, there are so many unknowns that nobody can give you a useful answer.
