Today I'll share with you test of new created site in march 2018.

Small site created on expiring domain from GD auction with high power for my niche (Pagerank).
High on-page optimization, which for test case was programmatically degraded.

Keywords and text optimized base on previous version of site, previous ranking and anchor text.
All previous urls was used. Site created as PBN.

As the result, in 72% of keywords ranking was much higher than before domain expiring.
Total:198 keywords.

Main target: CA, Los Angeles (Local SEO)
Dedicated server in Los Angeles. (CentOS+nginx)

Site speed before optimization:

Site speed after optimization:

test-134-pageSpeedAfter.jpg

After 16 days test was terminated, due to new incoming backlink, who changed the ranking.
Before new backlink arrived, NO any change in ranking for all of 198 keywords.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Best regards,
Greg.

Please also share here all the test you did, which gave positive results on site speed.

Because everywhere we hearing about big influence of site speed but I didn't see any confirmation / refuse this theory in real test - except own.
It's look more like fairy tale created by Google and every one repeating this theory.

Thanks, Greg.

Thanks for sharing your research, Greg. Keep in mind, while its hard to quantify every optimization in terms of search engine results. One of the main reasons to optimize your site speed is for user experience. This in turn leads to better bounce rates, longer engagement time, and potentially more sales. It's a piece of the overall larger puzzle.

I'm agree with you in 100%.
I hate slow sites and overloaded by all kind of background videos etc ... which not giving any value.
But some fresh designers and coders are excited.
They can't understand that simple and clean sites as BackPage.com was, can reach 85 000 000 visits.

This is how look this site (now closed by US government)

And site stats: ( makes an impression, right? )

Crawl rates could be a factor too if you are interested about this.

Recently i have updated one of my sites, homepages took around 2-3 seconds to load and 4MB, after optimization it's around 1MB, 1 second time, however the overall page speed can be good, if you load ads, additional scripts it can take some more time, a little worse user experience.

My thought, if you optimize overall page load, at least images, add some dynamic load for them it is enough. There are other "micro" improvements, for example async script loading, could be fine but errors can occur if not done well, prefetching, CDN usage.. also depends on users

@GoldenGlovez

I see that people not appreciate the real tests which they see first time in life, and which help them avoid costly mistakes.
So it's without sense to share any other tests, especially for free.

Where click "like it" no cost even one cent. Even you not give them a good example as Mod ;)

@majky538

You can use CDN, but it not help too much if site weigh 1MB and user have 1Mb broadband. Anyway load time will at minimum ~9 second.

So, it's better to minimalize first weigh as you already did.
Of course, we can't minimize too much weight of photo galleries,
but in most cases something is wrong if simple site weight more than 100-200KB

I always trying to keep weigh of compressed html document less than 15KB, some experienced people for sure know why.
I suggest everyone do test to load 14KB document VS 16KB. There is big difference in load time, where is only 2KB more in weigh.
I love quick sites and always trying to give my users the best experience with my sites. Even by that simple trick ;)

Well this went from being an interesting read to nothing more than a pitiful attempt at self adulation.

"Where click "like it" no cost even cent. Even you not give them a good example as Mod"

I constantly hop from one page to another on here, so will often bookmark a page, come back later and like it then.

If you're wanting just to post to stroke your own ego, be glad the thumbs down option isn't in use.

Ahh @MisterF

Sometimes i have opened few times more sites than you shown me ( I have 2560x1440 screen ), but it not changing fact that I appreciating other people time to share something new.
Simple "thanks", giving higher motivation to continue, so I can't understand why you trying attack me ?
And explaining, that by the reason of 20 opening sites nobody is able to click hand up.
For sure it's not the "stroke your own ego"

Anyway I learned something by this experience in this thread.
That in current digital world, 'like it' it's something like cut half leg and give somebody else.
In other words, so valuable. So it's better to sell it than share for free.

I'm not attacking you or anyone else, I am explaining that people sometimes forget to say thanks. People also tend to ignore those who feel the need to beg for thanks.

Maybe if you hadn't pissed off several members with your snarky attitude and condescending comments to other members of various other threads, people might be more warming towards you ?

...Maybe if you hadn't pissed off several members with your snarky attitude and condescending comments to other members of various other threads...

Ability to forgive it's valuable much more than anything else.
But some people never will learn it in whole life.

Because all of us making mistakes, including me.
But only part of people having ability to learn how to forgive.

I am NEVER forgot to say thank you, even if earlier I had some bad expirience with somebody.
It's because I learned how to forgive. It improved my life a lot.

Just an example: I had some sad expirience with @safeSEOboost
But it not changed fact, that I said later thank you here https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/seo-rule-1.1050492/#post-11303882
And I've mentioned from who I learned it here https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/h...n-your-seo-like-a-boss.1050804/#post-11309194

It was an example how it work in reality.
Because all experience about which I am write, I am using all time.

And I can recommend to everyone do same.
Because it making life simpler and better.

Ahh @MisterF @Asif WILSON Khan

Thank You, that you spend a lot of time creating those incredible valuable for SEO comments,
especially that they're so much related to topic of this thread.

Interesting what TTF have your comments ? ;)

As I see, jealousy take over.
No worry, You're not first, also not last.

Just ignore the comments if they hurt you and do your thing, share and show the test results :)

In my opinion, mostly by using logic, I don't think Google makes much difference by default.
But visitors not wanting to wait for the website to load, so they close the window, that surely adds.

Seriously not jealous mate.

Site speed is just one of over 200 ranking factors, each with varying degrees of importance and weighted accordingly, a case study as you describe proves nothing.

Site speed is just one of over 200 ranking factors, each with varying degrees of importance and weighted accordingly, a case study as you describe proves nothing.

Is that even a case study?

I see OP hosted a site on dedicated server and says the ranking has not improved until he got a backlink.

I'm here wondering will I experience a luxurious lifestyle if I just eat and sleep on schedule everyday without doing anything.

As a sidenote, I did Wordpress Pagespeed Optimisation for a lot of my clients including some BHW members and ALL their SERPs improved drastically with zero effort on backlinking campaigns.

...I did Wordpress Pagespeed Optimisation...

I see that you not understand, what is exactly measured here.
If you want get reliable results about SINGLE signal, such how load speed influence ranking, you can change in test only load speed, nothing else.
Including:
  1. you can't change single byte in html/css/js/images code.
  2. you can't enable cache
  3. you can't enable gzip
  4. only what you CAN change is the LOAD TIME
In same time, you need to monitor all existing backlinks and any new, if any backlink will appear or disappear there is end of test.
And you MUST monitor it via own software, because all known backlinks tools showing new/deleted backlinks with too big delay.
This is the correct methodology for load speed test.

Now, let's think what you did. (as many others)
You changed that many things, that you didn't know what in reality changed ranking.
Such tests worth nothing, if we talking about single signal.
That's the truth.

For this reason, I am always asking about methodology of test, because it's the most important thing here.
Because in most cases people really don't know what they really testing and how many things can affect results.
But it's nothing bad, just many people don't realize it.

@deedee1whoa

Everyday I am learning something new and everyday I am increasing own experience in many fields, including what you mentioned :)
