How quickly do backlinks take effect in driving traffic to website?

It depends on several factors like DA, and Traffic of the website where you are planning for your backlinks. For example, if a website has good Domain Authority and good monthly traffic, in that case, you will see faster results. Also, if the website is Google News approved or not makes a difference, because if it is approved for Google News, then the backlink article will be indexed quickly, hence increasing your chance of getting discovered in Google Search Results.

On the other hand, if a website has poor DA or Traffic, in that case, the backlinks might not be of any major help in driving traffic to your website.

Also, Backlinks show that your website is authoritative and several other people or websites trust you. Therefore, having good backlinks and trusted ones actually show search engines that you are out of the trusted websites that should be shown on top of the search results.

Similarly, if spammy websites are backlinking to you, in that case your overall DA might decrease, because search engines might think that the website doesn't has any useful information. But obviously it is one of the aspects of SEO, other factors also take place in indexing and ranking of web pages.

Just a question, will it take several months, if so why?
For referral traffic from the linking sites, it's almost immediately. The moment the links go live, you could start getting traffic immediately.

For organic traffic it would be longer, basically the time it takes for the linked page to rank at positions it could attract clicks from search.

Depending on where your page was already ranking, the competition and how previous optimized your page is, it could take a from two weeks or more.

On average, it takes about 10 weeks for a backlink to impact Google rankings. However, the actual timespan depends on a number of factors, and results will vary from one website to another. Some backlinks impact rankings in as little as 1 month, while others may require 6 months or more.

According to my knowledge, backlinks can increase traffic temporarily, but long-term authority and traffic demand needs consistent long-term work so that you can maintain the flow.

It takes a few weeks to a few months. It could take longer for newer sites and less time for established sites.

Hey, know-it-alls!

Please help a young SEO to write 10 reasons why backlinks bring efficiency to the site.

(I need to explain to a hardened businessman-customer).

You can drive tracffic almost instantly with web2.0s and social media if you really want to get off to a quick start. There are sites such as scribd that allow you to upload powerpoint presentations. I don't THINK you can put links on them but you can brand them, and put your logo and website on them, and as long as they are good you should get views. I'm up to 80 views from one presentation I uploaded 2 weeks ago. Difficult to tell how many visitors I had, but there is the opportunity to place a non lnkable naked URL on your profile, so that will be a nice contextual mention in the eyes of google.

There are over 500 web 2.0s of various degree! lol

it depends on quality backlinks

some fast and some imidiately

and what does WEB 2.0 mean?

A high-quality backlink from a site with high domain authority can start impacting your rankings within a few weeks, but it's not just about speed. It's more about the quality and relevance of the backlink. Google's algorithm is smart enough to evaluate the quality of the link. If you're getting links from topically relevant sites, it can significantly boost your rankings faster. But if they're low-quality or spammy links, they might never help or even harm your site.

and what does WEB 2.0 mean?
Web 2.0 is an umbrella covering a whole range of sites that primarily are built on user-generated content (UGC). Social networks and blogging platforms that are not self-hosted can be classed as Web 2.0. Because they allow UGC by default it makes them a relatively easy source of backlinks.
