Is there good money in real estate keywords?
I live in a smaller city/town and the big sites like trulia, realtor.com, etc don't dominate the front page.
And there is also little advertising, which makes me wonder how profitable it is?

If I can rank for "city real estate", where can I make money with this? These people are just looking to buy houses, or just looking for the hell of it. How could I get a cut of it? Other than selling advertising space? I don't want to make a couple hundred dollars a month. If I'm going to put the time in, I want to make some good money.

What about "city realtors". It's a somewhat popular keyword. But how many people really need a realtor, it seems everyone knows atleast ten people that are realtors.

Do any of you guys have experience with these keywords?
I mean what if I ranked for "city realtors", got my real estate license, and even made just one deal a month. It seems like it would be worth it? But like I said, there isn't a lot of advertising in Google, and doesn't seem to be a ton of competition in general, so I wonder how profitable it is?

Problem #2. The big sites like Trulia don't rule the front page now, but you'd think they eventually will for my town. If I put all this work in and get all my business via google. If those sites eventually bump me out, I'll be wiped out. Guess I could deal with that when it happens, but actually becoming a realtor for this is a big deal, and will take some work, so I don't want to do it for it to be profitable for a few months to a year.

Any thoughts? I just needed to get my thoughts out in the op[ena nd hopefully there are some here with some RE experience that can shed some light on the subject.
    THanks!

I think it all depends on the volume. If there's enough volume, there's always AdSense. That being said, you can always hit up the local realtors and sell them ads. I'm sure they'll be more than willing to buy, as ads in local papers or on radio stations tend to be quite expensive.

Think about it yourself. If you can sell a house, how much money you can make ? Even if you can sell one small house it's good money. Just do it like in e-bay : Buy cheaper - Sell for profit.
If you don't want to buy and sell yourself, make a call to some retailers, and I guess they should be interested, even if you can get them 1-2 sales, you both can make good profit.
    Just saying.

I couldn't agree with you more. Buying low and selling high has greatly helped!

Lead generation where you collect the lead data (of e.g. people who want to buy/sell a house) and sell it on to 2 types of lead buyer:
    1. Real estate agents; who are looking to sell client's houses.
    2. Mortgage brokers; as many people buying a house need a mortgage.

yeah I was thinking maybe collecting their name and email and trying to sell it. You'd think they'd be worth quite a bit. I guess I could do it two ways. I could a) collect it for people looking for a realtor and b) collect it before people get access to real estate listings. But B might piss people off, as I know I would if I had to enter my data before using a search. But should I care, I guess would be the question.
I'll look into mortgage brokers too.

I have a few friends that are real estate agents, but they are a bit inexperienced and probably won't understand the full value of a good lead. And would want a deal.

I would imagine they would be worth alot. Agents make an obscene amount of money/sale. They can easily afford 1000's/month.

Fcuk Adsense or advertising with real estate keywords. Go for lead gen. That is where all the money is at for these kind of "high level" keywords.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to see what I can do.
I'm gonna try and rank first. Then if I do, I'll decide what I want to do.
Might not be a bad gig doing some real estate on the side. Get me out of the house lol

Nobody knows all of the factors that make CPC skyrocket. My ads used to go from $1 to up to $100 per click, and when I repeated the exact same methods (with the same keywords) later, their CPC was still low.

Don't look into high-paying keywords so much. I made $70 per click, several times a day, with a bodybuilding blog (and that stuff brings in the WORST ads, trust me). Look out for where your traffic comes from, look at your CTR, and look at the competition for a keyword (the higher the competition, the more you should earn).
