How often do you drink?

10 years from now? There's an extremely high chance they already do this. It's just not on an individual level because they don't know who is whom on forums.

Most companies do some sort of sentiment analysis. Insurance has always done it in a broad fashion, keeping an eye on things like zip codes where people drink more. It's the reason why your car insurance has different rates based on area, they know which areas result in more crashes and compensate for this with higher premiums.

Frankly what surprises me is that the tech insurance companies haven't caught on. Like the ones who insure phones, they could mandate you install an app in order to be covered. Said app would track location and adjust your rates based on the probability of you damaging the device. That they charge a fixed rate no matter location, person age, sex, etc. blows my damn mind.
True :-)
When I consulted an Insurance company, they had 200 Rating Factors for Italy.
For Germany, did we have about 60 or something? At least the Italian Requirements were crazy high.

And what I posted was not a joke (maybe the ten-year thing was too far away), but there is a high probability that this could happen quickly in some countries.
In Europe, at least one Data Privacy Topic is very important, so it could take longer.
Nevertheless, at least in Germany, there is something called "Schufa," which is a scoring system that affects your entire liquidity/credit ranking in many areas of life.
To explain it, I have attached a little summary of ChatGPT (because you mentioned that zip codes where people drink more, are also affecting insurances - indeed)

Well, now imagine Insurance are getting Data from Apple because they want to know more about the Health status of their clients (Steps measured by phone, Activity measured by phone, movement in general - and the best of the best: Apple Watch)

I just recently discussed this with a friend.

Kind regards, zotix

I am 28 and I don’t drink alcohol, no alcohol, no smoking, no drugs, no wife, no kids = no problems

Like for the 1st line.
But I cannot mention how much I hate Ouzo (and the anise's taste) :smirk:
I no longer drink but Ouzo was our drink of choice playing golf in the winter time when I lived up north.

If someone didn't have Ouzo, someone had Sambuca and that worked as well.

It's not the taste, although I liked the taste, it was the warmth it gave when playing where there was snow in the sand traps and ice on the lakes/ponds.

Well i dont drink very often and i drink ocasionaly at partys ,when i meet with friends etc
The thing its i dont like when i get drunk as the next day i need to recover and i cannot be productive at all so i dont like that

ever since corona hit and the whole quarantined stuff i have not been able to stop myself drinking daily the only time i do not drink is when i'm asleep

I am a girl but I drink beer once a week, hanging out with friends is fun

I was like every 2nd day, but one day like 5y ago I asked myself why? Coz I was lazy af this every 2nd day:D So I stopped. Best thing...I was never sick again too...before I got cold like every year, coz body was just heavily intoxicated and wanted flush that shid off:D Nowdays I drink like 1 beer or glass every now and them...but not going over one at the time.

A beer to dinner every day and a couple of Negroni´s on the weekend, seems like a relaxed life.

No drink. I worked as a bartender in a casino when I was a student. That experience was pretty helpful in convincing me to stay away from alcohol for good.

It’s actually
Very rarely because I hate hangovers and I have the type of addictive personality whereby if I drink 1 beer I’ll end up having 10 more and then get hooked on drinking it every day. So I’d rather abscond completely.

Reading the chat again and personally I know a lot of people, who destroyed their life with it. Sure, many can drink and control it.
Especially if you are a person, as @davids355 said, who gets easier addicted it’s a high risk to waste up yourself.

As I said, either at work or among friends - there were people who went to the after-work party 4 days a week, came to work with a hangover, less productive (I would even say that this is not even one of the worst things), but health, stress and other things can be a catalyst.
I'm on the phone, so I can't prove it with evidence, but I'm more or less sure that women are even more affected than men.

We have all heard these stories, so this seems to be blah blah - going clubbing etc. When I was 18 (slowed down until Corona - then fullstop) we had a friend who drank a bottle of vodka for pre drinking. Later, when we had some friends over, we couldn't even tell if he was sober or not.
Writing this feels like watching one of those "stop drinking" documentaries. But in fact, he started to isolate himself, we lost touch, he got engaged - which is still going on somehow. Had new friends, shared the same interests.
At some point, when we all reached the age of 30 (maybe 2-3 years ago), we got the news that he had died. His girlfriend, to whom he was engaged, had left him before, I don't know how many stress factors he had, but he was also very overweight.
We found out later that he had been drinking 2 bottles a day for years. His organs were broken and he was in pain from his situation.

So the beginning of being drunk is fun, over the years the end was literally this. This is definitely not an example that can be applied to everyone who drinks a lot. But in his case I get the feeling that his family did not really think about the consequences or were not able to support him enough.

I see a lot of people writing here don't drink much - still, there might be people who do - I don't want to scare anyone away, probably don't even care, but get the signals, talk openly about it, it might sound stupid, but drinking alone or hiding from others should be the signal!

Take care of yourself :)

Edited: corrected grammar

I am regretting it now. One should have sufficed.

I don't drink, I find I have more fun without it, although its a little harder to warm up to people, but once I do I have the time of my life.
