Fiverrr gigs are putting a lot of downward pressure on designers.
However they are hit and miss. I've had a couple of decent ones. and some pretty ordinary ones.
Personally, I'd rather pay between $30 and $50 for a decent one and have a lot more say in the design.
It's important to know what you seek: a logo or an idea.
If you want ideas, you pay more.
If you feel you can close your eyes and describe the perfect logo for your business in words like: green/ shiny/ glossy/ bold/ something like company x logo / etc... you can just hire the hands of a skilled worker to draw/create/vectorize your idea in ~2h-4h and get the perfect logo ~$100 or less.
If you are trying to buy ideas... the prices go up up up... you'll pay for the art director, graphic designer, brainstorming meeting with a group of people, a holiday for the art director to find inspiration, various consultants, drinks for the consultants etc.
I've always paid $50 for my logos, that seems to be the going rate. I love vectors, and I can't vector for shit. I'm too impatient. Your portfolio is on par with people who are in the $50 range. Hope that helps.
Am a graphic designer who sells on several forums and would like to say am very qualify to reply to this based on experience and fact.
It's very simple to work out, it depends on the market you find yourself.
If you sell logos for $5 in a market where the ordinary people can not afford it then you are not going to make any or much sales.
For example, i sell my graphic design here for $20, it's because that is what the average people can afford to pay because some don't really care about the quality, as far as they are concern, fiverr does it for $5 so why pay higher.
This same logos i offer here for $20 was sold for $350 in the corporate world, i mean offline. The buyer also referred another client to me yesterday and am charging $350 again..
So it's just depends on the market you find yourself....
i feel it depends on the credentials of the designer. if you can talk the talk and back it up with some brilliant creative designs that aren't your typical obvious solution that every other designer would think of - i would say around $100.
Dont sell yourself short! if your the best then act like it and sell yourself like it!
It depends on how much BS you are willing to deal with. Sure you can get a good designer for $10. But you may spend $100 or more trying out designers before you get a good one. I'd say $250 for a decent one.
I have been designing full time since Sept 2009. From my website I charge 150.00. When people find me on CL or other sites I give a discount. But depends on if you are really designing correctly. I only design logos in illustrator. If you are just throwing a raster image in photoshop and not vector based I guess try to get whatever you can for it.
