Ok, let me clear up my post. If you want to rank a site with 0 competition that probably won't profit much, you can learn that kind of SEO for free. Learning how to rank a real site with real competition will take time, money for testing, and money to rank.

If you will read enough, then you'll be the expert SEO guru.

But if you want to be really the SEO expert, you must implement and try all things you have learned..so read, try, implement and testi....you will fail..so repeat it...and again, again...everytime you'll learn something new

It doesn't cost you anything to learn SEO. It will take sometime to master your skills.
Read threads in Blackhatseo and whitehat seo section.

Best way to learn SEO is by doing it. Start a blog on any topic you mildly like,even blogspot blog is fine. Do SEO for that blog as u learn.

That and then practice, practice, practice. The majority of what you learn will need to come from experience. It's just such a big subject with countless variables.

Well I did tutoring over skype to a few folks (at $100/hour since you're curious how much). They all learned a lot. 1 got to make money and "got it" and was able to apply enough from what I told him. He kinda had a background that helped him too. 3 of them were able to understand some healthy concepts but struggle to actually implement them because they lack the skills. 2 of those 3 pretty much chose to "forget" everything i told them and are back in the "follow the crowd mindset". What i noticed were these things (what i can think of right now, might be more):
1. They have bad expectations, opinions, ideas, habits and belief systems.
2. They think they need to be taught SEO. They don't! SEO can be summed up in about 3-4 hours and that's all you'll ever need to know about it. What they need instead is to learn to think and only think and never listen to opinions, because opinions are not facts.
3. They don't like the fact that they are incapable. It is an ugly word but that's the truth. Most people are incapable and in order to become capable they must evolve into somebody else. It is a matter of developing skills and a good mindset. It is not techniques and strategies they need, but skills and a mindset. Once you have skills and a mindset the strategies and techniques you need for SEO or anything for that matter will come easily. Implementing them will still be hard but at least at that point you get it. Unfortunately most people choose not to evolve to become what they have to become but push their heads deeper into the ground because they don't want to accept the simple truth they are unskilled at this very moment.
4. They insist. I told each of them it is not a good idea to pay me to teach them SEO because it is unlikely they will actually learn anything usable for THEM. They insisted I teach them. I told them i have a certain mindset and they will not like my mindset about SEO because they have to actually learn difficult things. They insisted I still teach them. I thought them and they said "but how do i do X thing this way". I replied that "X should not be done that way but this other way", they insisted it has to be done "that" way, because that was the only way they had the skills to do. And so on.

Trust me when I tell you, you can be shown a mindset, you can be explained strategies and techniques, you can be given all the knowledge of the Universe but unless you are at the level where you can actually understand it, it will be as useless as a bottle of salt water in the middle of the ocean.

Zero. Zilch. Experience is your best teacher. Really, the best way to learn it is to actually do it yourself. There are so many factors that theory alone will only take you so much.

Hi. If you want to learn SEO, you can learn it here at BHW. But it will take time. Anyway, I found this site helpful for beginners. Type in Google "Inline SEO".

Wait until Matt Cutts is done wanking over this next update. Also, look at the feedback for the people that have changed the game, i.e. seo sellers. If you buy a few services, learn what type of link does what, what type of on page optimization does what, and finally kick Matt Cutts in the balls until he dies, you will learn seo.

It would cost approximately $0 and 100 hours. Just read BHW posts in the black hat an white hat section. You will be a rock star after you spend about 100 hours doing this.

Time and patience. You will encounter many scenarios of trial and error.

To be honest, 6 months ago I didn't know even what IM meant, horrible I know. BUT everything I now know I learned from this forum and honestly I literally CAN'T wait to give back to it. Read read read everything on this forum, you will learn so much you won't do anything but be thankful to everyone on here. Don't pay anyone, you can teach yourself.

Some people actually can't operate without someone telling them what to do, so I'm not all that surprised at the OP. But IM isn't the kind of career choice for those people. Anytime marketing is involved, you have to be creative, and you can't teach that.

Its difficult to teach SEO, first things first, search for some seo articles and get a basic idea about SEO, once that is done, try researching websites which are ranking high on the search engines. Make sure you research on websites which are on the page 4 or 5 search results. Dont initially look for first page rankings. They are there because of their link popularity so onsite seo is of not much relevance to them.

Observations is the best teacher. Observe more and more pages which are ranking high and I am sure you will start understanding how it works.

Try to think as if you are a search engine robot..imagine what would you give importance while searching something. Trust me it will help..

Yes it only cost time my friend.. I will laugh if you lost money by learning seo. IF you are not fast learner more time will waste.
