How much weight does domain age hold?

I don't want to give away this strategy too much, but I have a domain that is 12 years old (*generic*reviews.com), could I put it to work on a 2 year old ClickBank product (I would make the URL to the review page something like *generic*reviews.com/randomcbproductreview) and dominate it quite easily for the term "randomcbproduct review" because I have about 10 years on all the other pages on the first page?

I did something recently with a 7 year old domain that turned into a winner.. I sold my own product and had a bunch of backlinks that I threw at the site and was able to rank in large part due to the age. No sandboxing for the volume of links either and I am sure that is somewhat age related.
 
If you look at some of the review sites that are currently ranking, that is exactly what they are doing.

Top10Reviews or something is a big one, in several markets that I'm in.

I would say don't stop at 1 product, do a ton. Sub domains or subdirectories, and get those pages ranked. Domain age is definitely an important factor in the SERPS.

It will take you a few minutes (tops) to add a new page, so the majority of the time you spend can be doing research and finding the best markets. Good luck, it sounds like you are about to hit a Gold Mine.
 
Whoa, BassTrackerBoats! You were the guy who helped me start along with that IMing email list. Sorry to say but I dropped it after getting frustrated after a few weeks. Wish I hadn't, but there was zero organic traffic - it was all from warriorforum :(

Also, I should note this site has ZERO backlinks. I don't even think it's nameservers have ever been changed/never indexed by Google. It was just a domain that was bought 12 years ago. Does that mean I'll still get the 12 year old link juice credit?

I don't remember but I am glad I helped you out... yeah the domain will be considered by G as an aged domain and the link juice will be multiplied due to the age... of course it you want to sell it to me for much less than it is worth, I would gladly accommodate you.

Start backlinking that dog and make some money from it... you'll be glad you did.
 
I buy and sell domains and point blank aged domains help. You still need basic seo but you now have a bit of a push when you do it!
 
I'm looking at a theory on how much weight a far expiry date carries as well.
If google sees a domain has 10 years to renewal does that give it weight
over a domain that has 3 weeks to expiry?
 
IMHO, domain age doesnt holds too much weight like it used to about 2-3 years back.. SE's are smarter and give value to fresh content more than anything else.
