How much this site cost?

I have never flipped any site and a friend of mine asked me how much he could sell his site for.


Domain age: 10 years
PR: 4
Visitors: ~150-200/day. google+facebook traffic (nothing blackhat) Most visitors are returning.

Nothing is really ranked too high, the site is making something silly like $10 a day in its good days, my friend is running the site just "for fun" and he needs some quick cash. If somebody do some SEO on the site - it can do miracles. The niche is good and not really hard one.

I guess the domain age and high PR means something when it is about selling the website, or not?

I would say around $200+ if you sell in flippa.

I personally don't think so.

If we take an average of $5 a day it's ~$150 per month.
Taking into account it's 10 years old and PR4 I don't think $200 is appropriate price for it.

Less than $1000.

It's hard to tell the exact price, but I would be shocked if you managed to get more than 1k for it. I would expect somewhere in the region of 500-800 personally.

Im expecting something between $700 and $800 in my honnest opinion. I was just wondering if the 10 years old domain and PR4 can improve the price. The same site with PR1 and 1 year domain could be sold for the same price which is basicly not fear in my opinion.

Depends on the niche and the domain name. If it would be easy to monetize it to a higher degree and it's clear your friend has just been lazy then you may get more for it.

10 years old and PR 4 is pretty valuable, but the traffic and earnings suck. People are going to want to know why they suck so bad. If you provide the right answer you may be able to get more, just don't count on it.

You can usually sell domains for a years worth of revenue up to three years worth of revenue. depending on the traffic/potential of the site you may be able to get more. You should check out dnforum or namepros and post it in the traffic section and see what you can get.

Hm, how is it being monetized? Adsense? Reason I ask is that in my experience, it seems that Adsense sites seem to sell for more.

How much is it making per month (since you say it only makes $10 on good days)?

Now, if it were making $10 a day (from Adsense), multiply that by 30 comes out to $300 a month. Probably could sell that for between $2,500 to $3,300. I'm going based off of what I've seen on Flippa, and the general rule that sites sell for 12 times their monthly earnings (given they are stable).

I'd go over to the Site Flipping section and post in the sticky thread. There are some flipping experts there that could probably give you a better answer.

Where did you pull that number from? LOL

It's what a buyer is ready, willing and able to pay for it and a seller willing to accept for it. For me, I buy and sell websites at 3 months of revenue...

It depends on the domain name and backlinks. I have seem people paying $60-$200 for a regular PR4/10yr old domain in domain after market

I sold a site for $6k
- Making $118-$181 per month (AdSense only) for few years. Solid income.
- 13K unique visitors per month
- Average domain, 4-5 years old.

I believe you could do sell your site for more than just 3x-12x on flippa if your site is getting good traffic, revenue and ranking. Potential buyer would pay much more for a good site (especially those making money from passive income such as AdSense) with a good track record of revenue and traffic. So it would be a good idea to list the 12 months revenue and traffic details.

This is what you could do:
1. Start flippa listing (5-7 days) with reserve price. Starting from $1. No BIN is set. Escrow payment.
2. Answer all the questions by potential buyers politely and professional
- Do not disclose the reserve (you could set it at 30x initially)
- Tell them the site would not be sold for less than 18x monthly revenue via pm
- Tell them the BIN would be set later
- Reject all low offers (those that are 3x-12x monthly income)
- Keep average offers open (12x-18x month income) open. Keep these buyers interested.
3. Set BIN 24 hours to 48 hours before the listing ends. You should set BIN higher if there are multiple keen buyers. You may want to lower the reserve if the high bid is close to your reserve and the time is running out. A reserved met listing may attract more bids.
