I want to buy domain (website - it has just few articles) it's 8 years old and ranked first for keyword with 2000 monthly searches. I think that I can improve it a lot by adding more content. Currently it gets approx 3000 visitors monthly. Niche is finance.

Owner wants: $500 for it. In attachment you can see domain DA, PA...

What do you guys think, is it worth $500?

Links 8?
And does it generate any income or are you just buying it as a domain + Website?

I'm buying domain + website, it generates approx $10 - $15 monthly via adsense, traffic is mostly from tier1 countries. I think if I add more content (hire some good writers) that I can bring more visitors. But maybe $500 is too much for such website, maybe I can get something better for that price?

15 x 24 = £288
.that it real value.

You sell a website via it value times 24 months if it income is sterdy.

If it was a new website they only get 12 months value in money.

That the pros way

Value in USD

399.15 US Dollar

Ignore the domain, just look at the profit generated. Online sites tend to sell for 8-15 months revenue. $15 x 10 = $150 (ish)

But this domain is 8 years old, it's ranked on google from 2009 and it's not very well seo optimized, that's why I thought maybe it's worth to pay $500 and improve it, add new seo optimized content...

^^ exactly. The multiplier also depends on how long it’s been generating that income and also how stable it is - ie what does it rely on?

Also, from your own point of view can you really add value? Are there other keywords that are close to ranking with decent traffic / cpc?

No. Just because it’s old doesn’t add much - you could by any old domain.

And the fact that it’s not optimised is valuable to you - that’s your way to make money once you bought it, but that doesn’t make it more valuable from the sellers perspective - if it’s not optimised then he likely doesn’t even appreciate that fact.

I found one keyword with 10k monthly searches (check attachment), I think that I can find more and hire some writers to add new articles to a website.

It's not optimized for mobile devices and still ranks well (second) for keyword with score (44 possible) on kwfinder.

If you think you can improve it and raise the monthly income then it's worth whatever $100-$200 it's overpriced. Might not be the best deal but if you can make it a good income (with profit) for yourself then the purchase price is irrelevant.

If losing $500 won't cause you any pain, and you are confident you can improve and turn a worthwhile profit then it might be worth it for you. This is assuming you know how to rank, etc. and have had multiple successes ranking and banking. If you're new to the game with no budget, not enough knowledge and no experience then you might very well be wasting money.

depends how good is the domain name.
