How much should I ask for this domain?

Low $xxx to mid $xxx. I use to buy and sell domains and considering the length and keyword searches for that niche it's not worth very much.
If you want a second opinion, there are domain reseller forums that will help you out.

I just need something to orient myself since I only started with this and already got confused by an email like this.. I don't know how much I can push the price..

Edit: I read your reply about backlinks only now.. The trick is the auction is ending in few days and I don't have the time (and knowledge) to build relevant links this quickly..

I would start at $400 which is in the high range and let the potential buyer negotiate.
But not take lest than $175 for it.
You could also take the next 2 weeks building links by posting in relevant forums, blogs and where evr else you can think of. There are also some BH ways to build back links. Just do a search. Trust me, you will thank me when you domain goes from low $xxx to mid $xxxx

I would not do that, let the auction end.
someone else here just mentioned they sold domains, and then got a chargeback, at least if going through ebay you have a little more of a chance to not get ripped off. [albeit not much]

Use EscrowDNS or Sedo for a secure transaction.
It's full of scammers these days.

I agree with the other posters about egay. Sedo is where I use to flip. Not to mention that ebayers are always looking for something for nothing. However, I do like your other domain name that you have for sale. "rarepage.com" . I could think of a million ways to build back links for that doamin and easily sell it for high $xxxx to low $xx,xxx to the right buyers.

You can remove the listings and build back links. But I wouldn't try to sell it to that guy. Also, you can list your domain on DNforum for a free pro appraisal. There is a profitable business selling domains to other resellers that are more apt to take the time to build back links and beef up the equity in the domain. Some can take a domain like, stinkychessyflapjacks.com, which is worth less than the reg fee, and then build back links for several months. After they are done, they have a domain with 100k+ backlings that gets 500 to 2000 Unique visits per day and the worth went somewhere around $10,000.

I received a very similar email a few weeks ago when I had some of my domains listed for sale. I found out that the guy had scammed many other people, and then found out what his scam was.. (fake appraisals) I played along for a bit, but soon lost interest and then just stopped answering his emails.
