It depends a lot on the quality of service you get from the service provider.
I don't trust GoDaddy, I stopped using their service about a year ago. Their hosting was never good and not recommended.
I use namecheap, you might want to try them out and it costs a lot lesser than what GoDaddy offers with their terrible support and bad business practice.

- You need to go for a 1-3 year plan to achieve a reasonably priced plan.
- There are cheap shared hostings but usually from lesser known companies.
- You are sharing resources with a lot of people on the same server IP.
- Cheapest VPS server will usually be a lot faster and outperform the majority of shared hostings.

Here’s the thing - I see webmasters trying to scale up servers vertically, which may not be the best tactic in all situations. Think about horizontal scaling instead. If you do that, you could easily serve with a 4gigs ram server which is not a monster configuration. The trick here is to add/remove auto scaling nodes depending on the traffic/usage.
With this strategy, you don’t even need $25/month. For moderate traffic, you could get aways with 2 instances of aws ec2 for example (but it really does depend on how your configure your script/server).

With a droplet from Digitalocean at 10-12$ + tax per mounth (15$ max per mounth) you can keep AT LEAST 50.000 unique ip PER DAY with no problem. Under 20.000 per day even the 5$ droplet is enough. But you still need to learn how to install at least a vestacp and config that droplet.
I always used sharedhosting and servers like that, and get burned of my money with bad speed, host and insane price every single day, before i had enough.
It's not that hard to make a droplet and config. You waste some time on waiting for installing and upgrading, but config it's 15 min at most.

Indeed you are paying too much for your hosting. $280 per year for one website is insane!
We at BHW can only give you suggestions, but you know your requirement the best. So just take few names like namecheap, greegeeks, siteground, Bluehost, etc. and compare their pricing and offerings and you will be able to decide on your own.
P.S. : Get rid of Godaddy hosting asap.
