How much is Facebook tracking you?

not only just Facebook even WhatsApp and Instagram also tracking us :p
 
This is getting out of hand. I went shopping recently and looked at a bike for a few minutes. Now all I see is bike ads on my facebook feed.

And what makes you think that? Do you actually believe they won't circumvent the rules.
Ever heard of centra? It's a private tool fb uses to spy each and every activity of user on the entire internet not just fb.
Their entire business revolves around data they will always find a way be it fb or big G.
 
I am so lucky of that facebook don't allow me to use their website anymore, because I got banned before, and now, they say "fuck you forever" no matter how many accounts I try.

Aggre with you but I have the remain to ask or delete my personal details-data officially and that means more unofficial -spy, hard work, for every fb or g@@gle
 
Well I'm from the EU but FB spies the hell out of us. I only use it to arrange friend gatherings to be honest.

However, there have been many cases: a new colleague at work, NOT yet set the new workplace, yet we have worklunch together talk etc. next time I open facebook it will prompt me do u know this person?
We visited a friend, and they had a VERY specific kind of backdrop in their kitchen. We talked about it, told her how we liked that backdrop, what do you know, on my SOs FB ads started to appear for that SAME kind of backdrop
Tons of other instances when we talk about something then we get ads for it
 
This is how much Facebook tracks you.
I once created a fake account with a fake name, a new email address and no phone verification.
I created it on a PC with geolocation disabled and using incognito mode in order to have no previous cookies.
I had no other Facebook accounts at that time, so there was no way for Facebook to know who I am.
However, as soon as I logged in, Facebook suggested my real life friends as friends.
How the hell did it know who my friends were?
Again, everything was fake, geolocation was disabled, there was no browser history, and I didn't have other accounts.
I reflected for a while and realized the only way it could have done it was through WhatsApp.
Basically, my phone with WhatsApp and my PC were connected to the same WiFi network, so their public IP addresses were the same.
That way, Facebook detected it was me simply because I was using WhatsApp with the same IP, even though it was from another device.
Pretty scary stuff if you ask me.

Correct i had the same issue with few facebook accounts after i realized that whatsapp ia the problem haha

But We all know these three are owned by the same person. Nothing is secure in this digital world
 
Facebook data is nothing. People are only shocked as that's what "in the know"

Once you start buying data to market to your audience it is mind blowing the stuff that gets presented to you. Get's worse when you start looking into it and once you become "aware" of what is around and how much you give away applying for stuff and ticking boxes.

Yet I get called paranoid when people start asking me about data and that.

I've had average income of streets and post code regions broken down in marketing packs before the dawn of Facebook!


Not many people are actually aware that depending on how new your device is depending on what you are browsing / buying online prices will alter. Newer the device the more income you have to spend (is the theory) so adjusting a price by a few pound / dollars in either direction can make a bit of a difference! Airlines used to this a lot (not 100% if they still do) but I don't think there's been a scandal so would not be shocked if this this still goes on.
